ESPN NCAA Basketball Picks Boston College Eagles vs Clemson Tigers

Boston College: The Eagles come into this game with a 13-12 record, sitting in 10th place in the ACC, after losing to NC State 89-80 in Overtime. NC State at one point had a 14 point lead midway through the second half, but then Boston College got back into it, only to have NC state take over in overtime. Nik Popovic was the leading scorer with 18 points (7-15 FG, 2-5 3PT) for the Eagles, who went on a 16-0 run midway through the second half to make it a game. Jared Hamilton and Ky Bowman both added 16 points, with Bowman also missing the 3 pointer at the end of regulation. The Eagles also had to play after halftime without Jordan Chatman, the team’s No. 3 scorer (13.8 points), while already missing freshman Wynston Tabbs (13.9 points) due to a knee issue for the 8th straight game. BC came into this game with some big wins against Pittsburgh and Miami, and besides being down for most of the game before their big run, they played pretty well against a team that should have beaten them easily. On the season the Eagles are averaging 72.12 ppg on 43.89 FG% and 33.27 3PT%, while giving up 72.32 ppg on 41.58 FG% and 31.83 3PT%.

Clemson: The Tigers come into this game with a 15-11 record, sitting in 9th place in the ACC, following a 77-64 loss to #16 Florida State, their 3rd straight loss after two gut-wrenching, one point defeats at Miami (65-64) and at Louisville (56-55). Clemson had a lot of trouble stopping Florida State around the basket. Florida State’s 7-foot-4 center Christ Koumadje went 4-of-6 shooting for 10 points with seven rebounds and a pair of blocks, and 6-foot-10 Mfiondu Kabengele had 19 points and 11 rebounds shooting 9 of 13 from the field, and also blocking two shots. Marcquise Reed led the way for the tigers with 20 points (7-16 FG, 3-6 3PT). Coming into the season being ranked and with big expectations, this Clemson team has looked out of sync lately, and they need to do something big to get back into the big dance. On the season the Tigers are averaging 69.35 ppg on 45.94 FG% and 32.48 3PT%, while allowing 64.27 ppg on 41.13 FG% and 35.88 3PT%.

FREE NCAAB Prediction Clemson Tigers vs Boston College Eagles

This matchup will feature two of the teams that are near the bottom of the ACC conference. Clemson is 5-8 in conference play, and sits only 1 game ahead of Boston College. Clemson is coming off 3 straight losses, while Boston College is coming off two big wins and a more recent close loss. Clemson’s offense isn’t what it should be this season, but their defense is great, currently second in the ACC is ppg allowed. The big problem for Boston College is turnovers, which might be good for Clemson. Also notable is Boston College missing some key players to injury. Clemson also still has a good shot at making the tournament, and with their 12-3 home record, and Boston College’s 3-6 road record, the pressure will be on the Tigers, but I think they’ll pull it out.

Pick: Clemson (-11)
