This Sunday, the Boston College Eagles will travel to Hank McCarmish Pavilion to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
The Eagles are 14-13 overall on the season and 5-10 in conference play. They sit towards the bottom of the conference at 10th. Their most notable victory of the season was their game against Louisville on Wednesday, when they took down the Chris Mack-led Cardinals and Jordan Nwora 66-59. Despite that, they really haven’t done more than just keep some games closer than they should have been. Their ability to keep games close, however, has been very nice for bettors. BC is 15-12 ATS this season, a decent record when it comes to covering the number. Not only is Boston College good against the spread overall, they are really solid on the road. They’re 8-2 covering the number on the road this season. They have a legitimate NBA-caliber guard in Ky Bowman, an advantage that GT cannot really boast. They might be without Wynston Tabbs, a starting guard who has really helped the Eagles up to this point and is listed as questionable with a knee injury. That might not matter necessarily against a not so great Georgia Tech team.
Georgia Tech is one of the few teams currently sitting lower than the Eagles in the ACC standings. They are 12-17 overall and 4-12 in conference play. That’s good for 12th in the conference. However, similar to Boston College, they are significantly better against the spread than straight up. The Yellow Jackets are the reverse of their overall record, 17-12, when it comes to covering the number. That’s pretty solid, but recently it hasn’t been quite that good. They’re only 2-5 against the spread in their last seven and 1-9 straight up in their last 10 games. Neither of those records are very good, to say the least. The straight up record is concerning, especially when facing a team that they are so evenly matched with like BC. The Eagles just had a huge victory against Louisville last Wednesday. Georgia Tech’s last victory came against Pittsburgh, who’s last in the conference. Momentum is not on their side in this one. Their best shot is to hope that their stellar defense is good enough to contain the Eagles. Their defense is solid, giving up just under 66 points per game on only 39.8 percent shooting. However, their offense is pretty much worthless, averaging only 64.7 points per game. If their defense shows up, they could get a victory. If it doesn’t, it’s going to be 10 losses in 11 games for the Yellow Jackets.

I can’t say no to the Eagles in this one. They’re not a great team overall, but they are weirdly good on the road. They’re 5-7 away from their home court but 8-2 ATS overall. They have all the momentum after a big win against Louisville on Wednesday. They’ve had time to rest up over those few days as well, having not played a game since. Georgia Tech is reeling right now. Meanwhile, Boston College isn’t exactly thriving, but they are at least surviving. In a game with such a small spread, I feel inclined to take the team who is good on the road and is riding off of their recent success.
Pick: Boston College +1
