The Illinois Fighting Illini were able to hold off the Indiana Hoosiers on Sunday, winning 77-76. Andrés Feliz almost earned a double-double with 15 points and 7 rebounds on the night. Ayo Dosunmu was able to earn 17 points on the night, the team high. Only one other player was able to earn double-digit points last night, which was Kofi Cockburn with 15 points.
The Ohio State Buckeyes dominated the Michigan Wolverines on Sunday, winning 77-63. Kaleb Wesson came close to earning a double-double on the night with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Duane Washington Jr earned a team high 20 points on the night. Five different players were able to earn at least 10 points on the night, with four players earning at least 14 points.
The Illinois Fighting Illini are overrated
If I’m being perfectly honest here, Illinois shouldn’t be ranked. The Illini are not ranked in the top 100 in any category and are 4-5 against ranked opponents. Not to mention that they’ve lost 4 times to unranked opponents. If it wasn’t for Kofi Cockburn ranking 64th in rebounds in the nation, I doubt that they would break the top 50, let alone the top 25.
Where Illinois is horribly overrated, Ohio State are ranked exactly where they should be. The Buckeyes are 6-5 against ranked teams and have only lost twice against unranked teams. They’re also 17th in rebounds and 18th in 3-pointer percentage in the nation. It also helps that Kaleb Wesson is 43rd in rebounds and 56th in 3-pointer, while Andre Wesson is 33rd in 3-pointer percentage in the nation. Three more players who don’t break the top 100 also have at least 40% 3-pointer percentage. Ohio State are ranked exactly where they should be.
Illinois are 2-8 SU in their last 10 games against Ohio State.
Illinois are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games on the road.
Illinois are 1-8 SU in their last 9 games when playing on the road against Ohio State.
Ohio State are 5-1 SU in their last 6 games.
The total has gone UNDER in 8 of Ohio State’s last 11 games against Illinois.
Ohio State are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games at home.
Ohio State should be able to walk away with this one. The Buckeyes have beaten better competition and performed better than the Illini over the past 4 games. It also helps that Ohio State perform well at home with a 15-2 record, while Illinois are only 6-5 on the road. Expect Ohio State to dominate in their final home game today.
