ESPN NCAA Basketball Schedule USC Trojans vs. Arizona Wildcats
This game will be a fun PAC-12 matchup to watch. Arizona is coming into this matchup ranked 2nd in the PAC-12 and USC is ranked 4th, both have had their struggles this season and are just looking for ways to pick up wins and make it to the tournament.
USC is 10-8 on the season and is coming into this matchup with a great win over their rival UCLA. USC is led by Bennie Boatwright, Nick Rakocevic and Jonah Mathews. Bennie Boatwright, senior forward is averaging 17.3 PPG and 6.4 RPG. Nick Rakocevic, junior forward is averaging 15.2 PPG and 9.7 RPG. Jonah Mathews, junior guard is averaging 12.5 PPG and 3.2 RPG. For USC these three players are the offense, they are the ones who carry the team and look for scoring opportunities the most.
The Trojans’ best win was against UCLA. USC came into the game with a ton of confidence and it showed on the offense as well as the defense. USC and UCLA were evenly matched in the first half and USC lead by only three points heading into the half. The second half was a different story and USC came out the gate hitting shots from everywhere and outscoring UCLA by double digits in the second half. This lead to USC winning by a large margin 80-67. All three of USC’s leading scorers played well and did a huge bulk of the scoring. Boatwright scored 21 points, Rakocevic scored 21 points and grabbed 12 boards and Mathews pitched in 16 points. The Trojans’ worst loss was against Nevada Wolf Pack. USC did lead in the first half, but in the second they were unable to score at the same pace and it led to a blowout win by Nevada 73-61. The Trojans’ biggest struggle was Boatwright and Mathews only scored seven points each and both struggled to put the ball in the basket. The only bright spot was Rakocevic who scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, but it just wasn’t enough to beat a surging Nevada squad who was ranked 5th in the top 25 at the time.
Unranked Arizona is 14-5 and is coming into this matchup fresh off a win against Oregon State. Arizona is led by Brandon Randolph and Chase Jeter. Brandon Randolph, sophomore guard is averaging 15.4 PPG and 3.6 RPG. Chase Jeter, junior center is averaging 12.6 PPG and 7.2 RPG. Arizona is pretty good at playing team ball and there is a lot of good offensive players on the team, but these two stand out and are the most aggressive when it comes to getting their points.
The Wildcats’ best win was a couple of nights ago against Oregon State. Arizona jumped out to a huge lead in the first half 38-27, but Oregon State stayed even with Arizona in the second 44-44, but Oregon State couldn’t do enough to pull away and Arizona won 82-71. Jeter had a scary fall and only played 4 minutes of the game and Randolph had a poor shooting performance that led him to 5-15 from the field with ten points. The reason for the win was the play of freshman Brandon Williams who scored 20 points and the great bench play of Arizona. The Wildcats’ worst loss came against the Baylor Bears. Arizona was unable to find the basket in this matchup and scored a total of 49 points in the game. Randolph was the leading scorer in this game, but he only shot 6-16 from the field to get his 15 points. Everyone else on the team scored in single digits. Baylor didn’t play that great of an offensive game either it seems as though Arizona just played worse.

ESPN NCAA Basketball Scores Arizona Wildcats vs. USC Trojans
Both of these ball clubs have had their struggles this season and both are just fighting to get wins. In this matchup, Arizona has a huge advantage. That advantage is their bench play, anyone on Arizona can pick up the slack when their leading scorers aren’t playing well. For USC they have three main scorers and when they don’t play well the team suffers. I think Arizona is going to win in this matchup especially if they can focus on locking up the Trojans’ main scorers. Expect this game to be a close one where Arizona grabs the win.
