This Wednesday, the Boston College Eagles will go on the road to face off against the Louisville Cardinals
The Cardinals have been playing some good basketball as of late. New coach Chris Mack has taken that winning Xavier mentality and brought it back to Louisville. The team is 11-5 right now with some impressive wins recently. They dismantled North Carolina on the road last week 83-62, handing Roy Williams one of his biggest home losses ever as the head coach for the Tar Heels. Louisville is 8-3 in their last 11 games. They’re averaging exactly 80 points a game while only giving up an average of 69.8 points per game. Their leading scorer on the team is Jordan Nwora, who’s averaging 17.3 points per game as well as eight rebounds. He’s also making about 47% of his shots and almost 40% of his shots from deep. Louisville has the momentum in this one as well as the home court advantage. That’s a tough combo for opposing teams to deal with, especially one like Boston College who has been struggling lately. Louisville looks they’re finally starting to put it all together under Chris Mack, and now they can solidify themselves as a threat in the ACC with a big win over Boston College.
Boston College is not riding the same high that Louisville currently is. They have split their last 10 games and have lost four in a row. They find themselves going into Louisville without a conference win, losing their first three conference match ups to Virginia Tech, Virginia and Notre Dame. Those are all pretty hard teams to go up against, though. An intriguing aspect about this Boston College team is how well they have done against the spread on the road this season. They are 5-0 ATS away from their home court. They covered against Notre Dame (+5.5) and Virginia Tech (+15). That makes this spread really interesting. Boston College does not look like a very good team right now, and will probably continue to struggle against the superior competition of the conference. However, they might just be able to cover the big spread of 10.5 against Louisville. This Louisville team looks like they’re a lot better than the Eagles, but can they prevent Boston College from losing by less than 10.5?

ESPN College Basketball Scores Boston College Eagles and Louisville Cardinals
This one is actually a tough one to figure out. Louisville is coming off a huge road victory and should in theory be elated to come back home and host a struggling B.C. team. However they haven’t been great covering the number this season and have a big spread to cover in 10.5. Boston College is struggling right now but has covered against almost all conference opponents so far and has done well against the spread away from home. That being said, I think the momentum Louisville has will be too much for the Eagles to cover. It’s hard on the road in college basketball in general, and Louisville just got their biggest win of the year. Plus, while they’ve been good at covering the number on the road, the Eagles haven’t done that well against the spread overall, going 7-8 against the number this year. I don’t believe Louisville is coming down to Earth against a middling Boston College squad. The Cardinals should be able to win this one and cover.
