Oregon Ducks (13-8) @ Colorado Buffaloes (11-9)
February 2, 2019, 9:30 PM ET (Coors Events Center)
Line: Oregon Ducks -120 Colorado Buffaloes -109
Spread: Oregon -1
The Oregon Ducks have had their season derailed by injuries after being ranked and the preseason and at one point being ranked in the top 15 when they were fully healthy in the early part of the season and projected to easily win their conference. The most devastating loss for the Ducks has obviously been projected lottery selection Bol Bol who suffered a foot injury and has been ruled out for the year. Oregon has gotten a boost though as they won against Utah on Thursday 78-72 and will play their 3rd game in six days. The Ducks can cause turnovers to create their fast break opportunities as they are second in the Pac-12 in steals at 7.7 per game. Oregon’s defense is also the best in the conference in 3-point shooting defense as they only allow opponents to shoot 30.5% from beyond the arc.
The Colorado Buffaloes have struggled as they have moved to conference play going 2-6 in their first eight games in the Pac-12 as they are just 1-2 at home during the conference portion of their schedule. The Buffaloes have had to lean on their offense this year scoring 74 PPG. Colorado has been led at the point by McKinley Wright IV as he is fourth in the conference in assists at 5.1 per game. Colorado has struggled with an easy schedule that is ranked 202 in the country including a terrible non-conference schedule that is ranked 336 and will likely miss the NCAA tournament this year and continue their drought as they haven’t won a tournament game since 2012.

This is a matchup that will feature a team in Oregon that will need all the wins they can to get to the tournament while Colorado will struggle to get to any postseason tournament with their resume. This will certainly be a high scoring game played at a very high pace. The Ducks should get the victory against a struggling Buffaloes team that still can’t find a way to get back on track even against a soft schedule. This would be a bad loss for Oregon that could see any of their hopes be dashed by losing to Colorado. This game should stay close until late perhaps even a one-possession game but the experience of Paul White should help the Ducks pull away and get a big road victory to make it three consecutive wins for Oregon in what has been a hectic week for the Ducks.
