Some Big 12 Action with 20th ranked Iowa State taking on Oklahoma at Lloyd Noble Center. Iowa State has won three straight and is looking to win their fourth while Oklahoma has lost two in a row and are looking to get a win to stop the bleeding.

Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma is 15-7 on the season, but 5-1 against Iowa State when playing at home. Oklahoma has struggled to get wins in the Big 12 and has a record of 3-6 against conference opponents. The Sooners are led by Christian James and Brady Manek. James is a senior guard leading the team in scoring with 16 PPG as well as leading the team in rebounding with 7.1 RPG. Manek is a sophomore forward averaging 11.4 PPG and 6.5 RPG. These two players are the only players for the Sooners who average points in double digits. These players are the centerpiece of the Sooners offense and they will have to play great if they want to beat Iowa State.

The Sooners’ best win was against Vanderbilt Commodores. Oklahoma was hitting their shots at a high level and Vanderbilt was unable to slow them down. They took a huge 18 point lead in the first half and came into the second half playing even better and ultimately winning by a large margin 86-55. Christian James and Brady Manek both scored in double digits. James scored 21 and Manek pitched in 16 points. The Sooners’ worst loss came by the hands of the Baylor Bears. Baylor came out surging and taking control of the game and Oklahoma had no answer. Baylor blew them out 77-47, Oklahoma had no chances at making a comeback after the first half and really struggled to hit their shots shooting 27.3 percent from the field as a team, while Baylor shot 54 percent. Also, James and Manek were no existent in this game both scoring under 10 points.

Iowa State Cyclones

Iowa State is ranked 20th in the top 25 and is currently 17-5 on the season and 6-3 against conference opponents. Iowa State is led by Marial Shayok, Talen Horton-Tucker and Michael Jacobson. Michael Jacobson also got in on the action recording a double-double 14 points and 10 rebounds. Iowa State’s worst loss came against then-ranked 18th Iowa Hawkeyes. Iowa controlled the game the whole time and never really let Iowa State feel like they could make a comeback. ESPN NCAA Basketball Scores Iowa State Cyclones vs. Oklahoma Sooners

Iowa State struggles when they play on the road, but this season they have only lost by double digits one time. They know how to stay in games even when they seem like they are struggling. Even though Oklahoma plays well on their home court I just don’t think they have enough scoring threats to beat Iowa State. Iowa State is playing great and they will be looking to get this win and extend their winning streak to four games. Expect Iowa State to get the win.
