NCAA FOOTBALL PICKS Colorado State Rams vs #20 Boise State Broncos
Welcome to this Week 14, Mountain West Conference showdown between the #20 Boise State Broncos and the Colorado State Rams. The Broncos are having an awesome season. They are first in the Mountain West Mountain Division, 7-0 in conference play, 4-1 on the road, and have won four straight games. Half of their games have been blowout wins and the others have been somewhat close. Last week, they beat Utah State 56-21. The game was over by halftime and quarterback Jaylon Henderson went 16 for 28, for 187 yards, and three touchdowns. The Rams have had a below average season. They are second to last in the Mountain West Mountain Division, 3-4 in conference play, 2-3 at home, and have lost two games in a row. Colorado State knows how to score, but they also know how to give up a lot of points as well. They have had a mix of blowout wins and losses. Last week, they lost 17-7 to Wyoming. It was tied at seven at halftime and the Rams were shutdown in the second half. Quarterback Patrick O'Brien went 17 for 29, for 217 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. The Broncos need this game to stay in first in the Division, while the Rams will try to finish with a .500 record in conference play.
The Broncos have been playing very well this season. This team has piled up the points this season and they have been scoring 50 plus points in three of their last six games. Even though Boise State has dealt with injuries at quarterback, they have still managed to keep things rolling for them. The running game has put up 200 yards plus in four of their last six games. The balance on offense has been key for Boise State this season. George Holani will get a lot of carries in this game. If they run the ball well early, then Henderson will be set up in the passing game. The team is averaging 273 passing yards a game and almost averaging 200 yards on the ground. Throw in a decent defense and this can easily be another double digit win for the Broncos.
The Rams are actually playing okay football right now. Their second half of the season play has seen them go 3-2 and at one point, they even had a three game winning streak. Beating Fresno State on the road was a solid win for them, but in the last two games, the offense has gone down a bit. Still, their passing game has improved and the defense hasn't been too bad. Every now and then, their defense has kept them in games, and that was the case last week. This team will be ready to compete against the ranked Broncos, but the Broncos will be too much to handle. The Rams give up more than 200 yards on the ground and that is where the Broncos succeed the most. The Rams have somewhat of a running game going for them and they will do their best to counter the Boise State production. It will be up to the offensive line to make sure things are in working order at all times.
