NCAA FOOTBALL PICKS North Carolina Tar Heels vs Miami Hurricanes
Welcome to this Atlantic Coast Conference matchup between the Miami Hurricanes and the North Carolina Tar Heels. In Week 1, the Hurricanes lost a hard fought, battle of Florida game against the Florida Gators 24-20. The game had five lead changes and Miami can keep their heads up that they played very well against the #8 Gators. In that game, quarterback Jarren Williams went 19 for 30, for 214 yards, and one touchdown. Meanwhile, the Tar Heels had a fantastic 24-20 comeback win against the South Carolina Gamecock. Going into the fourth quarter, the Tar Heels were down 20-9, and went on to score 15 points for the victory. Quarterback Sam Howell went 15 for 24, for 245 yards, and two touchdowns. Both these teams are coming off some intense and close games, and this matchup should follow that same theme.
The Miami Hurricanes put in a lot of work against the Gators, but they should be fresh and ready for their Week 2 matchup. The Canes defensive line should be able to get to Howell a lot in this game because the North Carolina defensive line did a poor job at protecting their quarterback and Miami won’t just get one sack in this game. Also, Miami will be excellent at stopping any of the North Carolina rushers. The Hurricanes didn’t open things up in Week 1 with some of their plays, but they will be explosive at times in this matchup. The main Cane will be DeeJay Dallas, who had 11 carries last week, went for 94 yards, and one touchdown. Dallas is a playmaker and one of his runs last week was a 50 yard gain.
The North Carolina Tar Heels have a great group of veterans and they showed last week that they can win a close game. Last season, this team lost a handful of close games and winning one in comeback fashion, to start the season off, is a great confidence booster for the team. We know that this team can make field goals because that’s all they had going for them for three quarters. It took awhile, but the passing game came through in crunch time. This week the rushing game will be the main focus for the team and getting their offense going from the start. The Tar Heels had a handful of weapons on the rushing and receiving end. The main Tar Heel will be Javonte Williams, who had 18 carries and rushed for 102 yards. Even though NC had no rushing touchdowns in this game, at least they were able to move up the field with ease at times.
NCAA Football Scores Miami Hurricanes vs North Carolina Tar Heels
So, who will win this ACC showdown? The Miami defense should be able to take over from the start. That being said, the Tar Heels will struggle for the second week in a row to try and score touchdowns. Sure NC might get some good yardage from time to time, but they will struggle to convert on a lot of downs. Early on, Dallas will get the ball a lot for the Canes and that should lead to some great drives and early scoring. Miami should play with the lead from the start, North Carolina will hang around with some field goals, and the Canes get their first win of the season. Miami wins 24-16.
