NCAA FOOTBALL PICKS #13 Baylor Bears vs Texas Longhorns
Welcome to this Week 13, Big 12 Conference showdown between the Texas Longhorns and the #13 Baylor Bears. The Longhorns are having a slightly above average season. They are 4-3 in conference play, in fourth place, and 2-2 on the road. Texas has been an interesting team this season. They have had some close games against some of college footballs best teams, a few head scratcher losses, and some close games against average teams. Last week, they lost to Iowa State 23-21. Texas was down 20-7 in the fourth quarter, put up a fight, and came up short. Quarterback Sam Ehlinger went 22 for 40, for 273 yards, and three touchdowns. The Bears are having a fantastic season. They are 6-1 in conference play and 5-1 at home. Baylor has had a handful of blowout wins and some close games, against elite teams. Four of their ten games were decided by three points. This team clearly likes to keep things close. Last week, the Bears lost to #8 Oklahoma 34-31 and it was Baylors first loss of the season. The Bears had a 31-10 lead at the half and were completely shut down in the second half. Quarterback Charlie Brewer went 18 for 29, for 194 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. This should be a down to the wire type of game, with a lot on the line for the Bears.
The Longhorns still have something to play for in the Big 12 conference. Whether that is a spoiler role or a slight miracle to move up in the standings, this team will be ready to play some more great football against a ranked team. For the first time in awhile, Texas is having a below average season, compared to the higher standards that this team usually shoots for. The Longhorns are still doing well at moving up the field with ease and they are being very effective on third down conversions. Texas still knows how to get into some high scoring games, even though the offensive numbers have been trending down the last few weeks. The passing game will lead the way and Texas will do well at pacing the game.
The Bears will be ready for a bounce back effort this week. Everything went so well for them in the first half of last weeks game, and then everything was shut down. Brewer will be ready to have effective passing numbers again in this game and hopefully keep it going for the full 60 minutes. He should be able to connect with most of his passes and even get a few touchdown passes as well. Baylor will get some quick passes going on drives and then, they will take advantage of the Texas weak secondary. Then the Bears defense will need to do their part. They have allowed 14 points or less in four game this season. Baylors pass rush will be strong in this game. Look Baylor to try to mix things up with the running game because the running game wasn’t there for them last week, when they needed it most.
NCAA Football Scores Texas Longhorns vs #13 Baylor Bears
So, who will this big game in the Big 12? The Longhorns haven’t put together a good winning streak all season and just when it looks like they might, they fall back into another loss. The Bears have a good foundation and have shown their greatness all season. They should be able to capitalize on the Texas issues, but it definitely won’t be an easy game. Both these teams have been in a lot of close games lately, and the Bears have had the better luck. Brewer will have another strong game and it will carry over into the second half this time. Texas will have some success, but fail to get the big stops that they will need to get. Baylor wins 24-17.
