DOG OF THE DAY PREMIUM PICK
Our Dog Of The Day returns here at Cover The Spread 365 and as we do so does John Wall for the Wizards. He’s still listed as a game time decision, but whispers sounded off when he showed up and participated around shoot around early this morning and all signs point to a go!
The Washington Wizards surely missed John Wall yesterday in Toronto as the Raptors took care of them 100-91. Washington was able to hang around for most of the game, but missing their star point guard was just too much to overcome. The Wizards won three of four meetings last year against the Bucks and seem to be the more complete team. Bradley Beal is now averaging over 24 points per game and is becoming a serious threat at being the number one option on the team. This team no longer is solely depended on John Wall producing all of the points. Wall now has the ability to dictate when to take over the game at crucial moments instead of always needing to handle everything. After wheeling off four wins in the row the Wizards dropped two right back. The Wizards still sit on top of a very weak division where no team has looked impressive.
On the other end of the spectrum for the Bucks they saw their four game winning streak come to an end with a blowout loss from the Mavericks. Jason Kidd was extremely disappointed by their effort, but understand these games happened during the course of the season. As always the Bucks ask everything out of Giannis Antekounmpo who is averaging a whopping 30.1 points per game. It seems like he took the challenge from Kobe Bryant on being the MVP this year very serious. While he is certainly becoming a force on the offensive end, he also is playing a ton of minutes like King James. Except here, Giannis is all alone on the offensive end. He has yet to find a consistent scorer alongside him in Milwaukee this season. Giannis is currently averaging 37.7 minutes per game this season. Ever since the trade for Eric Bledsoe the Bucks have been moving around their lineup and I have a feeling it will take some time to iron out the specifics. Moving Brogdon to the bench turns this elite defense to just a run of the mill as well.
COVER THE SPREAD 365 DOG OF THE DAY PICK
Washington and Milwaukee will both make the playoffs this year in the East. It’s just going to come down to who plays the Cavs or Celtics first that will probably result in them sitting at home. The better team is Washington at this point in the season, especially with the shuffling recently done by the Bucks. I could easily see Milwaukee being the better team throughout the course of the season but it’s hard to turn down 5 points with the better established team. Especially if their star player, John Wall has had some rest even if the team hasn’t. The public will believe the back to back is reason alone to take the Bucks, but at Cover The Spread 365 we are on the complete opposite side tonight. Good Luck!
