Valero Texas Open

TPC San Antonio – San Antonio, TX

April 19 – April 22, 2018

Valero Texas Open

Welcome to the Texas run the PGA TOUR has every single year. Looking at the past winners below, this tournament is filled with stars that come out to play, and they win.

Defending Champ, Kevin Chappell returns to see if he can go back to back. However, his game has not been great this year. He has missed the past two cuts at the Masters and the RBC Heritage.

Charley Hoffman, or should I say the all-time earnings leader at the Valero Texas Open. He is a perfect 8-for-8 with a win in 2016. Hoffman is on fire as of late. In his past six events, he has four top 25s including a T12 at the Masters.

Another player who is having a great year is Luke List. That name should be no surprise since we have been all over List the past couple of months. The tournament we decide we no longer like List to breakthrough is the tournament he does, and we won’t reap the benefits. But, to give you an example of his sizzling play, List was T3 last week and has five top 20s in his past nine events.

Of course, Matt Kuchar has a chance to make some noise. Kuchar is probably a guy you can count on more than any other golfer. He is perfect in six appearances with three top 15s. And, he is putting awesome. Maybe this is the week KUUUUUUCCCCHHHH breaks through.

Call me crazy but Beau Hossler will win at some point this year, and it could be this week. Remeber how well he played at the Houston Open only to lose in a playoff? He followed that up with a T16 at the RBC Heritage.

2017: Kevin Chappell – Brooks Koepka

2016: Charley Hoffman – Patrick Reed

2015: Jimmy Walker – Jordan Spieth

2014: Steven Bowditch – Will Mackenzie/Daniel Summerhays

I tend to go against the top picks each week and give you all some potential to make that money. This week I am doing it again. Go with the (40/1) Beau Hossler to get the win. It is going to happen this year, so why not now?
