MLB Draftkings Picks Baltimore Orioles vs Tampa Bay Rays

Here we are, back on the horse for game two of this three-game set. Yesterday, I picked the Rays to hit a win, which they did 4-2, and now they hold a six-game lead in the AL East for the first time in team history. Also, last night’s victory against the Orioles set a club record for the best start in their team’s history. Needless to say, it was a good night for Tampa Bay and their fan base. Tonight’s game will carry some similar incentive as both teams are fighting tooth and nail to grab a key division win.

Baltimore Orioles

Well what do you know, Dylan Bundy once again failed to keep the ball in the park, which led to another loss on his record. Avisail Garcia, who signed as a free agent with the Rays after his stint with the White Sox, was ice cold at the plate before he returned to Chicago and suddenly started to rake. Unfortunately for Bundy and the Orioles, Garcia continued to rake as he launched a two-run homer in the 4th and finished with three RBI’s in last night’s match. Garcia’s bat was enough to push the Rays to a 4-2 victory. Dylan Bundy continues to hurt himself by giving up the long ball. The Orioles have to be wondering how long they can put up with it until they send him down to the minors.

Baltimore will be pushing a more reliable right-hander to start on the mound tonight, David Hess (1-2, 3.32 ERA). Hess dropped his last two starts versus division rivals New York and Boston, allowing seven runs on 11 hits in 10 innings of work. The Tennessee Tech alum followed up his two losses with a gem against the Blue Jays. In that game, he tossed 6 1/3 innings, giving up no hits and striking out eight. Look for the promising young starter to put on a better performance than Bundy.

Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays can wipe their brows in relief as they won’t be seeing Chris Davis (illness) tonight. Wow, I bet they feel so lucky to not see him in the batter’s box. All jokes aside, Tampa Bay took care of business in game one of this series with a huge performance by Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow will keep an undefeated record (4-0) as he tossed a seven-inning gem. He gave up just two runs on seven hits while striking out three batters.

In an odd series of events, Cy Young award winner Blake Snell hit the 10-day injury list yesterday due to an accident at his home. Snell fractured his toe when he stepped out of the shower and attempted to move a granite pole. The granite pole ended up crushing his toe. Snell nailed it right on the head when he called the accident “really dumb.” Blake, I have to agree with you there. Luckily, the injury will only keep him from missing one start.

Tampa Bay will have another fire right-hander taking the mound today in Ryne Stanek (0-0, 2.16 ERA) Stanek will start the game but will only be called upon to give an inning or two. Stanek has been money in that role so far this season, allowing just one hit in five innings with eight strikeouts. With the Rays pitching staff being so deep, Stanek just needs to do his part and the skipper will be plenty happy.

Hopefully Blake Snell never picks up a granite poll again, or any heavy object for that matter. He’s lucky his “dumb move” will only cost him one start. The Rays rotation needs their ace healthy if they want to continue to stay at the top of the AL East. A tiny part of me wants to pick the Orioles to upset tonight, but they just don’t have many reliable offensive pieces outside of Villar and Mancini. Even Villar isn’t all that amazing, he’s been solid yes, but not amazing. Give me the Rays again tonight in another small parlay.
