The Boston Red Sox went all out in Game 3 using 9 pitchers over the course of the game and 23 players overall which tied an MLB record for most players used in a playoff game in hopes of taking a 3-0 lead into Saturday but fell short of getting the victory by a score of 3-2. Boston’s top four spots of the lineup went a combined 0 for 28 in game 3 with potential AL MVP Mookie Betts having an 0-7 night. With a marathon 18 inning game Alex Cora has been forced to change his rotation with Nathan Eovaldi needed to pitch most of the extra innings. This will now mean that Drew Pomeranz will potentially get the start for the first time in twenty-seven days although he could potentially be used as an opener which could see the Dodgers load up their lineup with right handed batters and Eduardo Rodriguez could figure heavily into the Red Sox pitching plan if they do use this strategy.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will start Rich Hill who has been great his last three starts getting the win in each of his starts going five innings with six strikeouts with one earned run allowed against Milwaukee in the NLCS. Hill has struggled with walks though in 10 1/3 innings he has walked nine batters compared to ten strikeouts and will make his first start since October 16. The Dodgers were saved by a Max Muncy walk off home run in the 18th inning. Los Angeles only had four runners in scoring position going 1-4 and stranded twelve men on base.

Game 3 saw both offenses struggle scoring or even getting runners on base as they combined for just five runs and 21 base runners left on base. Both teams will be coming off of the longest game in World Series history lasting 18 innings and over seven hours. The Red Sox will need to attempt to rebound from a devastating loss in a game they should’ve won. With both pitching staffs being depleted and batters possibly still being exhausted after such a long game any part of game 4 will be a tough read. However, Dodger Stadium is a pitcher friendly park and although both offenses are capable of high scoring affairs the number of this game feels a little bit too high and World Series games always have a lot more pressure with hitters trying too hard to have big swings and pitchers will take advantage.
