The Los Angeles Dodgers visit the reigning World Series champions Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field for the fourth game of the NLCS. The Dodgers lead the series 3-0 and have a chance to go to the World Series on the road.

The LA Dodgers have been one of the better teams in the league this year and they are showing exactly why as they have won every game in the playoffs so far this season. They swept the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-0 and now have a chance to sweep the Cubs. Justin Turner has continued his dominance into the postseason hitting .375 with nine hits, two home runs and 10 RBIs.  Yasiel Puig has turned it up in the playoffs as well hitting .429 with nine hits, a homerun and three runs. Both played a part in the game three victory as Turner finished with a hit and an RBI and Puig added two hits and two RBIs including a solo homer.

The Dodgers pitching has been much improved over the last four games after allowing five runs in the first two. The only concern are Clayton Kershaw’s struggles as he has a 4.76 ERA in his two starts, but Yu Darvish has shown why the Dodgers invested in him in a late season trade. He is 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA and he’s only allowed hitters to combine for .195. Alex Wood gets his first start of the postseason tonight after three weeks rest, and has a good matchup tonight as he’s gone 2-2 with a 2.93 ERA in eight appearances (five starts). The bullpen has been excellent as well as Kenley Jansen and Brandon Morrow have dominated when they’ve been on the mound.

The defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs are looking at an uphill battle. They have struggled to get their offense going this postseason and the stats reflect this. Kris Bryant is only hitting .219 and has just two RBIs and 32 at bats. Anthony Rizzo has been inconsistent as well hitting .167 with a home run and six RBIs. The Cubs have yet to score more than two runs in this series and need to figure out a way to get things going quick. Kyle Schwarber got the only run in game three as he hit a solo homer in the first inning off Darvish. There were a few hits made, but none were connected together to score runs.

The Cubs starting pitching has performed extremely well as Jon Lester and Jose Quintana each have a 1.69 ERA after two quality starts, but no wins. That is because the bullpen has struggled mightily throughout the postseason. Carl Edwards Jr., Mike Montgomery and John Lackey have been the weakest links with each posting an ERA over 10. In game three, Lester allowed just three hits and one run with five walks and two strikeouts in 4.2 innings, but the bullpen allowed three runs in the final two innings to reward the Cubs the win. Jake Arrieta makes his second start of the postseason tonight and is looking to improve on his 0-1 record, but he holds a 0.00 ERA after four innings in his first game.

FREE MLB PREDICTION CHICAGO CUBS VS LA DODGERS

The Dodgers have been completely dominant this postseason, and it’s hard to see how they could lose a game. Even without Corey Seager they haven’t missed a beat. Combined with Arrieta’s career numbers against the Dodgers, 1-3 with 3.70 ERA in four starts, I believe they will get the sweep tonight.
