Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago Cubs

Los Angeles Dodgers (104-58) at Chicago Cubs (92-70)

MLB: Thursday, October 19, 2017, at 8:08 PM ET (Wrigley Field)

Clayton Kershaw (18-4, 2.31 ERA) vs. Jose Quintana (11-11, 4.15 ERA)

Line & Odds: LA Dodgers +100/Chicago Cubs -110 — Over/Under: 9.5

The reigning world series champion Chicago Cubs have forced a game 5 and the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Chicago Cubs backs are against the wall facing elimination down 3-1. After surviving against the LA Dodgers last night, the Chicago Cubs come in Wrigley Field ready to claw their way back to the World Series. The feet of coming back from a 3-game deficit has only happened one time in the past 35 years. The only time this happened was when the Boston Red Sox came back in the 2004 ALCS down 3 games to beat the New York Yankees. The defending World Series champions will have to pull another miracle for them to make it back. This is nothing new for them considering they came back from a 3-1 deficit in last years World Series.

Even though they managed to win last night’s game, they will have to get their offense going. The Cubs are going to have to be a completely different team than they were in the first three games of this series. They’re going to need consistent starts from their pictures, and their bats have to show up. The main reason why they are going to be stopped by both of these aspects from showing up will be the superiority of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The LA Dodgers have dominated the Cubs this series, and even though the Cubs squeaked out a victory in game 4, the Dodgers look to end their hopes and game 5. The Dodgers will be starting their Ace Clayton Kershaw, who has been utterly dominant this season leading the national league in wins (18), ERA (2.31), and is a shoe-in for this year’s NL Cy Young. He has been so dominant this season that he possibly could win another NL MVP. The only concern would be his lack of production in the postseason, but that did not stop him from winning his last outing in game 1 of the NLDS against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers bats have been electric this postseason scoring 34 runs in their first six games. The Dodgers only managed two runs last night, however, I do not see that as a sign of this to come in this game 5.

Chicago Cubs

2-4 SU in their last 6 games

3-5 ATS in their last 8 games

Los Angeles Dodgers

4-1 SU in their last 5 games

3-2 ATS in their last 5 road games

8-15 ATS in their previous 23 road games

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best team in Major League Baseball; they have the most amount of wins this season with 110 (including the postseason). They are the far superior team and will make up for not wholly dominating the Cubs and completing the sweep. I believe that the Los Angeles Dodgers will beat the Chicago Cubs and reach the World Series for the first time since 1988 tonight.

    Pick: LA DODGERS

Tonight’s #Dodgers lineup for game one vs. the Cardinals:

14-15 since the All-Star break. 8-9 in August. Is this the game that gets the #Dodgers going? "“Well, we better,” Kershaw said. “It’s kind of now or never. There’s a three-team race. We’d better start playing. We’d better get good.”

#Dodgers notes: Turns out it was harder the second time around than Cody Bellinger expected. But he has adjusted and is "maturing" as a hitter

DBacks and Rockies both won so #Dodgers remain 2 games back in NL West. 5th in wild-card standings, 1 1/2 GB second spot

#Dodgers Zac Rosscup struck out the side on 9 pitches in the 9th inning -- an 'immaculate inning.' Best I can figure, he's the 88th pitcher to do this in MLB history, 93rd time it has happened, 4th time this season. Kenley Jansen did it for LAD last season
