ML: Cubs -145, Pirates +125, Over/Under 9 (MyBookie)
Odds: Chicago Cubs -1.5 (MyBookie)
The Chicago Cubs held the lead the entire game against the Philadelphia Phillies, but blew it in the bottom of the 9th, losing 5-7. Kyle Schwarber earned the last run for the Cubs with a home run in the top of the 5th. Yu Darvish was nearly perfect yesterday, earning 10 strikeouts while not allowing a single run. Pitching today for the Cubs is Kyle Hendricks, who is 8-9 on the mound this year, with an ERA of 3.48.
The Pittsburg Pirates took the lead early against the Los Angeles Angels, bud couldn’t finish the job, losing 4-7. There wasn’t anything that I saw that was positive for the Pirates. Pitching for the Pirates today is Joe Musgrove, who is 8-11 on the mound this year, with an ERA of 4.71.
Now I’ve criticized the Chicago Cubs a lot over this season, but I can’t deny that they’re a good team. Chicago is ranked 13th in total runs earned (599), 7th in total ERA (4.12) and are tied for the 8th best record in the league. Expect the Cubs to win today.
The Pittsburgh Pirates have fallen of the face of the earth recently. The Pirates are ranked 20th in total runs earned (568), 25th in total ERA (5.04) and are the proud owners of the 7th worst record in the MLB. To simply put it, they’re not a good team anymore.
Chi Cubs are 4-1 SU in their last 5 games against Pittsburgh.
The total has gone UNDER in 11 of Chi Cubs’ last 16 games against an opponent in the National League Central division.
The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Chi Cubs’ last 5 games played on a Friday.
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Pittsburgh’s last 5 games.
Pittsburgh are 2-9 SU in their last 11 games.
The total has gone OVER in 4 of Pittsburgh’s last 5 games against Chi Cubs.
The start of this series is going to be really close, but the Cubs are going to pull out the win since they are the superior team.
