ML: Cubs -165, Pirates +135, Over/Under 9.5 (MyBookie)

The Chicago Cubs shut down the Pittsburgh Pirates yesterday, winning 2-0. Jason Heyward made a beautiful diving catch in the bottom of the 2nd. Kris Bryant was able to earn the first run of the day by earning a home run in the top of the 7th. Pitching today for the Cubs is Jose Quintana, who is 10-7 on the mound this year, with an ERA of 4.11.
The Pittsburg Pirates couldn’t achieve anything against the Chicago Cubs, losing 0-2. Steven Brault the only thing that’s positive for the pirates is Steven Brault playing well, only allowing 1 run while earning 8 strikeouts in 7 innings. Pitching for the Pirates today is Mitch Keller, who is 1-1 on the mound this year, with an ERA of 7.94.
If there is anything that you could say positive about the Chicago Cubs, it would be about their pitchers. Out of all of the pitchers who qualify, only one pitcher has an ERA over 4.25. Only three pitchers on the team have a win percentage less than 50%. I still don’t understand how a team like the Cubs are terrible on the road though.
I tried to think positively for the Pirates yesterday, since the won the first game of the series. I was clearly wrong to think so. While at home, the Pirates are ranked 22nd in runs earned (266), 29th in total ERA (6.04), and have the 6th worst home record (25-33). To simply put it, the Pirates are a bad team in general.
Chi Cubs are 5-1 SU in their last 6 games against Pittsburgh.
The total has gone UNDER in 13 of Chi Cubs’ last 18 games against an opponent in the National League Central division.
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Chi Cubs’ last 5 games when playing as the favorite.
Pittsburgh are 3-10 SU in their last 13 games.
The total has gone UNDER in 13 of Pittsburgh’s last 20 games against Chi Cubs.
Pittsburgh are 1-6 SU in their last 7 games at home.
If the Pirates weren’t starting a pitcher with an ERA close to 8, I would have picked the Pirates to win. However, the Pirates are starting a pitcher with an ERA close to 8, while the Cubs… aren’t. The Cubs will win today.
