The Chicago Cubs were able to come back against the Pittsburgh Pirates, but blew it, losing 2-3. Tony Kemp made a hell of a double play, making the throw basically laying down in the bottom of the 6th and also earned the Cubs only 2 runs in the top of the 8th. Pitching today for the Cubs is Jon Lester, who is 9-8 on the mound this year, with an ERA of 4.43.
The Pittsburg Pirates waited until the last second to beat the Chicago Cubs 3-2. Joe Musgrove played fantastically, earning 9 strikeout and only allowing 4 hits in 7 innings. Three different were able to contribute to the Pirates winning thanks to each earning an RBI. Pitching for the Pirates today is Steven Brault, who is 3-1 on the mound this year, with an ERA of 4.33.
Don’t trust the Chicago Cubs if they are ever on the road. When they’re away, the Cubs may be ranked 14th in total runs earned (299) but are ranked 22nd in total ERA (4.9) and have the 5th worst away record in the MLB (23-39). It’s insane how a team can be in the upper half of the MLB but are just completely dreadful on the road.
With the exception of winning their games, the Pittsburgh Pirates have been playing well for the most part. Over the past 7 days, Pittsburgh has been ranked 9th in total runs earned (37). Now the Pirates are dead last in total ERA over the last 7 days (11.02) but that didn’t stop them from holding the Cubs to 2 runs and win.

To anyone who took my advice to take the Chicago Cubs yesterday, I apologize. I thought that since the pirates haven’t been playing well, the Cubs would actually win on the road. I was clearly wrong, and I’m not making that mistake again. The Pirates will win today.
