This will be the tenth game between these American League Central teams with the Twins having a slight two-game lead over the Indians within the division. The Twins also have an edge in the season series at 5-4 so far this season. The Indians are coming off of sweeping a doubleheader on Wednesday before traveling to Minnesota. The Twins are 6-1 in their last seven games against the American League. These teams currently have the fourth and fifth-best records in the majors.
Cleveland looks to continue resurgence
The Cleveland Indians are 39-16 in their previous 55 games and are 22-8 in their last 30 games to climb within two games of the division lead and are currently leading the AL wild-card race. Mike Clevinger has been terrific of late going 4-0 in five starts post-all-star break with 40 strikeouts and nine walks and is holding opponents to a .234 batting average. Clevinger hasn’t lost a start since June 28th and the Indians has gone 7-3 in his ten starts this year and has a 3.07 ERA in those starts. Jose Ramirez has been excellent after the break batting .330 with 9 home runs and 19 runs scored and 25 RBIs.
