After a home series against the Boston Red Sox, the Cleveland Indians travel to New York to battle the Yankees in a 4-game series. The Indians have won the last three road series. The Yankees swept the last two home series, most recently against the Baltimore Orioles. The Indians will start RHP Adam Plutko (4-3, 4.68 ERA) against RHP Chad Green (2-3, 4.69 ERA).

The Indians started the series hot against the Red Sox, winning the first two, but they lost the last two, the most recent coming yesterday, a 1-5 loss. Shane Bieber started the game and had a solid outing going 6 IP with only 2 ER and 7 K. But he got the loss. Nick Goody couldn’t even get through one inning before getting yanked out for allowing 3 runs. The Indians offense only were able to get on base 7 times as compared to the Red Sox’s 14 times.

Former All-Star Jose Ramirez started out terribly this season after a remarkable three year stretch. He looked more like his ’15 season (.219/.291/.340). This year, before the All Star, Ramirez had just as bad of a slash line (.218/.308/.340) with only 7 HR and 35 RBI in 317 AB. However, now after the All Star break, Ramirez looks like that guy that was in MVP talk last year and the year before. In the games after his slash line shows great improvement (.313/.343/.664) with already more HR and nearly as many RBI in half the AB (131). He’s heating up at the right moment and looks to carry it into October.

Oh the poor Orioles, the Yankees really let them have it this week. The Yankees, although a close game yesterday, came away with yet another victory, 6-5. Gary Sanchez went 3-3 with 2 runs and 3 RBI along with a HR and a walk. JA Happ pitched well in what has become a bumpy season, he went 5 IP only giving up 2 and striking out 6. Luis Cessa gave up 3 runs but still earned a hold and the rest of the bullpen shutout the Orioles ending with a save from Chapman. In the 4-game series, the Yankees scored 33 runs.

Mike Tauchman came out of obscurity to be a nice addition to the injury-riddled Yankees. Although he was quiet in the Orioles series, Tauchman gave a jolt to the Yankees offense the last month. In July, he held a slash line of .423/.474/.750 with 5 HR and 13 RBI. This month he’s slowed down (to last month’s standard) putting up a less than modest .357/.460/.786 showing improvement (already!) in plate patience and power hitting.

I have Mike Tauchman in most of my fantasy leagues so I might be a bit biased to his abilities. But there’s no denying the power of this New York Yankees team. Furthermore, with a poor pitching matchup today (both are underwhelming) I see this as an OVER game. Yankees win this one.
