The Colorado Rockies and New York Mets will finish off their four game series Thursday afternoon from Coors Field.

The New York Mets desperately need a win here after losing 10 of their last 14 games. New York has allowed 22 runs in their last three games and six or more runs in five of their last nine outings. Mets have lost 11 straight when allowing more than three runs. Steven Matz will take the mound for the 14th time of the season, going for his second straight win. Matz had his best start in his last outing, going 6.2 innings of one-run ball against the Diamondbacks in a 5-1 Mets’ victory. The fourth-year left-hander is having a solid season, posting a 3.31 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP to go with a 3-4 record in 65 innings of work. Micheal Conforto is showing signs of improvement, smashing two homers with six RBI’s in his last six games. The 25-year old left fielder has not been able to hit with any consistency this season, recording a .226 average with nine home runs and 22 RBI’s on the year. Conforto is 4 for 14 with one RBI against Rockies pitching this year.

The Colorado Rockies will be looking for another victory after splitting their last three games and nine or more runs in four of their last six outings. Trevor Story continues to round up runners at an impressive pace, amounting 15 RBI’s in his last 11 games, and he is averaging an outstanding .357 at the plate this month. The 25-year old shortstop is having a stellar year, registering a .271 average with 16 long balls and NL-leading 56 RBI’s. Story is 3 for 18 with three RBI’s against the Mets this season. Kyle Freeland will the the mound for his 15th start of the season, going for his second victory in June. Freeland was amazing in his previous start, limiting the Rangers to only two runs in seven innings, resulting in a no-decision. The young left-hander has been one of the Rockies most consistent starters this season, recoding a 3.59 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP accompanied with a 6-6 record in 85.1 innings pitched. Freeland is 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA and 12 strikeouts in his career against the Mets.

The Mets pitching has been straight trash this month and has been no different this series. Matz has been good this year, but in 59 career at bats against current Rockies, he’s allowing a .373 batting average with three jacks. Freeland has been on his game at home this season where he has an ERA under three and an allowed batting average of .226, really nice numbers. I have to back the Rockies, especially at Coors Field

A lot of excellent questions from fans in my latest #Rockies mailbag. Check it out: https://t.co/V8NfF3NBTY

Terrific outing tonight for #Brewers @Jhoulys45 ... very happy for former #Rockies starter. Class act.

Agree. He was spot on. If #Rockies had done that, they might be in the NLCS.

Fair point. #Dodgers do own the #Rockies.
Then again, Dodgers spend more money then most small countries, but they haven't won a World Series since 1988.

Who gets an A? Who gets a D? My analysis of #Rockies starting rotation: https://t.co/mwiSn9yZnE
