MLB Draftkings Picks Detroit Tigers vs Boston Red Sox

The Detroit Tigers are having a rough start to the season where they are currently over .500 with a 12-11 record. The Boston Red Sox, much like their opponent are having a worst season where they are currently way below .500 at a record of 10-15. These two clubs have played each other previously in a double header. The Tigers took the first game by a score of 7-4 where the Tigers scored 5 out of the 9 innings. In the second game, Detroit won by a score of 4-2 and are looking to win the series today. Last nights game ended in a 11-4 rout in favor of the Red Sox, who came into the game as the favorite.

Detroit Tigers

Offensively the Tigers have been awful where they rank 29th in the MLB with a team batting average of .230. A big reason they are almost dead last is they have only brought in 72 runs this year, whereas the the league leading Mariners have brought in 163 runs. All of the Tigers starting players have solid batting averages where they range from .278 To .213. However Miguel Cabrera has been the most consistent and lead the team with a .280 batting average and surprisingly 0 homeruns.

With their offense collapsing there is one bright spot for the Tigers this season and that is their pitching. Detroit is currently 3rd in the MLB where they are only allowing 3.23 runs per game through 22 games played. Their starting rotation has been solid this year with players like Matthew Boyd who is 2-1 on the year while posting a team high in strikeouts with 39 through 31.1 innings pitched. As for their relief pitchers, they are just as solid with players like Spencer Turnbull who is surprisingly 0-2 on the season, but is 2nd on the team with 26 strikeouts and allowing 2.77 runs a game.

Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox are surprisingly 22nd in overall batting in the league with having 99 runs batted in while posting a .231 batting average. Boston has very solid hitters, their only problem just like the Tigers, and that is bringing runners in that are in scoring position. 6 out of 9 Red Sox starters have above a .250 batting average with Mookie Betts, J.D. Martinez, and Xander Bogaerts leading the way. J.D. Martinez leads the the team with a .330 batting average, 2nd on the team is Bogaerts with a .286 average, and 3rd is Betts with a .239 average.

What a lot of people didn’t see coming was Boston’s pitching woes this season after they had a top 10 finish last season. They still have time to turn around their season but it will have to happen fast where they are currently ranked 29th in pitching. They are currently allowing 5.61 runs a game and 130 total runs through 25 games. The Red Sox starting pitchers by themselves have been horrific this season, with only two giving up less than 4 runs a game. The first pitcher is David Price is 1-1 on the season while averaging a 3.75 ERA with 30 strikeouts. Next is Hector Velazquez who has started in 3 games this season but has a record of 0-2 while recording only 15 strikeouts with a 3.94 ERA.

Free MLB Pick Detroit Tigers V.S Boston Red Sox

It looks like Jordan Zimmerman will get the start for the Tigers who is 0-3 on the season while posting a 4.94 ERA. His opponent will be Rick Porcello who has a record of 0-3 on the season but has had worst performances considering his 8.47 ERA through 17 innings pitched. This game is a toss up considering the Tigers have won the first two games, and Boston winning easily last night. Boston has been on a little hot streak where they won three straight against the Rays.

Being on the road for the last 5 straight games had flustered the Red Sox, which made them drop two games at home. Boston has now bounced back and will continue their momentum from last game with their bats, and will come out on top in game 4 to tie the series.

PICK: Red Sox -185
