Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Texas Rangers (27-42) at Los Angeles Dodgers (34-32)

MLB: June 13, 2018, 10:10 PM ET (Dodger Stadium)

Line & Odds: Texas Rangers -174 / Los Angeles Dodgers +164 – Line: 7.5

The Los Angeles Dodgers won the first game of the back-to-back series against the Texas Rangers as they prepare for the second game.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers have had a tough season so far.  Ahead of the back-to-back games against the Dodgers, they are last in the AL West.  Pitcher Cole Hamels is having an average season thus far and the Rangers simply lack a superstar batter.  In last night’s game, Texas couldn’t get anything going.  They took a beating from the Dodgers and lost 5-12.  The Rangers batted 8-34, Shin-Soo Choo leading the team batting 3-5 with a homerun and an RBI.  However, beyond Choo, the team’s best batter, the Rangers struggled at the plate.  On the mound, Bartolo Colon had a rough day.  Posting an ERA of 4.94, 9 hits, 8 runs, and 3 home runs through 3.1 innings.  Though he did throw 45 strike-outs on 72 pitches.  Relief Pitcher Tony Barnette was a bright spot on the night.  He put up the team best 2.75 ERA and only allowed 1 hit from the Dodgers.  Looking to the next game, the Rangers will look to get off to a better start than their last game.  They couldn’t stop the Dodgers or produce on offense.  Texas will rely on pitcher Cole Hamels.  He’s 3-6 on the season, throwing a 3.86 ERA.  It’ll be a tough task, but the Rangers will need him to get the job done.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers sit at second in the NL west.  Matt Kemp has had a terrific season so far, leading the Dodgers in most batting statistics. In yesterday’s game, the Dodgers limited the Rangers to just 5 runs, 2 of which coming a late effort in the top of the 9th.  But it was the Dodgers impressive batting that stole the show.  In the fourth inning alone, the Dodgers ran in 7 runs.  Totaling 12 runs on just 16 hits, the Dodgers were extremely efficient in their 12-5 rout of the Rangers.  Looking at next game, the Dodgers should feel confident.  Kenta Maeda starts on the mound for the Dodgers.  Maeda is 4-4 on the season thus far, while only allowing 49 hits and just 5 home runs.  Going against a sorry Rangers team, he should feel comfortable at home and looks to seal off the back-to-back series with 2 wins.

Texas Rangers

Texas is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games

Texas is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games on the road

The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Texas’s last 5 games on the road

Los Angeles Dodgers

LA Dodgers is 4-1 ATS in its last 5 games

LA Dodgers is 4-1 SU in its last 5 games

The total has gone OVER in 5 of LA Dodgers’s last 5 games

In the previous game, the Rangers put up little fight against the superior LA Dodgers.  It’s hard to bet against the Dodgers, as they’ve been playing lights lately, going 8-2 in their last 10 games.  Since they dominated in every aspect of their last game against the Rangers, I’d have to pick them to win again and go 2-0 over the Rangers on the season.

Pick: Los Angeles +164

#Rangers Reaction has a flight to catch, but not before pontificating on the trade deadline, Bartolo Colon and the rotation, and Joey Gallo. https://t.co/CYRjmvaFq3

#Rangers’ season-best win streak comes to an end as offense can’t back Bartolo Colon.

#Rangers lose 2-0 to snap seven-game winning streak. Bartolo Colon allows two runs in seven innings. #Rangers strike out 12 times vs. Jose Berrios.

Bartolo Colon gets through seven innings having allowed two runs. He and #Rangers trail, though, as Twins starter Jose Berrios struck out 12 in seven innings. He's out now. Maybe the Rangers have a chance.

#Rangers trail 1-0 after five as Bobby Wilson drops a two-out single into left field. Lots of hard-hit balls in the fifth, but Wilson's single wasn't one of them.

#Dodgers notes: Behind the plate, Yasmani Grandal and Austin Barnes might be "elite." At the plate lately -- not so much.

During the #Dodgers series in NY, various members of the traveling media party saw Springsteen on Broadway, Lion King and Hamilton.
I watched TV in my room. I'm not living right.

What do you do when six home runs isn't enough? Hit a 7th. Justin Turner puts #Dodgers back in the lead, 8-7, in 11th
