The Chicago White Sox and the Texas Rangers face off tonight in game 3 of their 4 game series. Chicago has taken both of the first two games rather convincingly 6-1 and 8-3. The Rangers however took 3 of 4 games against the Angels before traveling to Chicago and dropping the last two. They will be looking to turn things around tonight. On the hill tonight for the White Sox is right-hander Ivan Nova. Nova has had his good games and his bad games this season. He holds a 9-9 record with a 4.47 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 2019. Nova has won 5 straight starts and is unbeaten in his last 6. Facing off against Nova will be Rangers rookie Kolby Allard. Allard was drafted in the 1st round of the MLB first year player draft in 2015 by the Atlanta Braves. He was recently traded to Texas on July 30 and currently has a 1-0 record with a 6.60 ERA and 15 strikeouts across 3 starts this season. Allard allowed 6 earned runs over 5 innings against the Angels in his last start. However, he set down 10 of the last 11 batters he faced in that outing. Allard is rated as the number 16 prospect in the Texas Rangers system. The White Sox and the Rangers are both essentially eliminated from playoff contention. Texas currently sits 12.5 games out in the AL wild card and 20 games out in the AL West. The White Sox are 15.5 games out in the AL wild card and 18 games out in the AL Central.
