World Series Game 5 (Series Tied 2-2)
Line: Houston Astros -147 Washington Nationals +137
Run Line: Houston Astros -1.5 Total: 8.5
This is the fifth game of a possible seven-game World Series. The road team has dominated so far outscoring the home team by a margin of 29-9 so far. The winner of game 5 when the series is tied has gone on to win 67% of the time. Both teams will turn to their aces for this pivotal matchup with Gerrit Cole on the mound for the Astros and Max Scherzer on the mound for Washington. This will be a rematch of game 1 that saw the Nationals get the win 5-4 behind Scherzer. The Nationals could potentially be without starting catching Kurt Suzuki for this one as he’s dealing with a hip flexor injury.
Houston attempts to continue road run
Houston is 4-1 SU in their last 5 games on the road. Cole will be coming off his first loss in his last 19 decisions and first loss since May 2. He has been great overall this postseason going 3-1 with a 1.82 ERA. Cole also has 38 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings with only nine walks. This comes after Cole’s career regular season-best form that saw him go 20-5 with a 2.50 ERA. Cole last time out managed to go seven innings allowing five earned runs and eight hits. The Astros World Series MVP thus far could be their catcher Robinson Chirinos who has homered in back-to-back games as well as had multiple hits in consecutive games and has added three RBIs in those last two games.
