MLB Lines and Odds: Chicago White Sox -129 — Over/Under 9.5
Kansas City Royals will travel to Chicago to play the White Sox as a part of 3 game set. Both teams are at the bottom of the AL Central division but both teams are coming off road trips. Kansas City Royals swept the Cleveland Indians, a team that won the division last year. The last time the Royals swept the Indians was 3 years ago. The Chicago White Sox took two out of three from the New York Yankees which is a team that won 100 games last year.
The Kansas City Royals as said before are coming off a great series against the Indians. The Royals beat the Indians on the last game of the series via walk-off fashion with a game winning single by Hunter Dozier. The game included a number of lead changes and although the Royals’ bullpen faltered, their offense picked them up. In this opening game of the series, which happens to be Jackie Robinson day, Heath Fillmyer (0-0, 15.00 ERA, 2K) will get the start and hopefully he will turn a page from his early struggles of the season.
The Chicago White Sox will try to continue their winning ways with their youthful ball club. Although in rebuilding mode and under no pressure to win, the White Sox have shown signs of what lies ahead with talented young players producing. Yoan Moncada, the prospect which was part of the Chris Sale deal with the Red Sox has looked good early on this year with a slash line of .328/.371/.586. In today’s game, Ervin Santana (0-1, 17.18 ERA, 1K) will go for his 150th career win and try to decrease that horrendous ERA.
Coverthespread365 MLB Betting Trends:
- The Royals have won just 15 times in their last 56 road games and are 3-10 in their last 13 games overall.
- Royals are 1-4 in Fillmyer’s last 5 starts after allowing 5 runs or more in their previous game.
- Royals are 1-5 in Fillmyer’s last 6 road starts
- The White Sox have dropped 20 of their last 28 games overall and are just 2-8 in their last 10 division games.
Chicago White Sox vs Kansas City Royals
These two teams are pretty evenly matched. They both have young talented position players but lack pitching. In today’s pitching matchup I would say the Royals have the upper hand as Ervin Santana has struggled mightily starting out this year. On the other hand, the White Sox have done well stealing bases and scoring. I will give the edge to the Royals just because I was impressed how they battled back from their games against the Indians and their ability to score against the likes of Kluber and Carrasco. In addition, I think this will be a high scoring affair due to the poor pitching of both ball clubs.
