Last night’s game update
Last night was a very intense and close game between the Angels and the Mariners. Seattle had the lead in the beginning of the game, but then they fell apart and lost it. The final score ended up being 6-5 with the Angels on top. I had projected that the Angels would win the game, but I thought it would be by a greater margin than one run. Since these two teams were so neck in neck coming into last night’s game, it was bound to be a good game. The Angels have now improved their season record to 59-58, which is the same record as the Mariners, and are now tied with the Mariners for second place in the American League West division. Like I have mentioned before, this is a very crucial series for both teams as they hope to not only surpass one another, but also increase their chances of a wildcard spot in the playoffs. Every series going forward is important for teams that are on the cusp and close to getting a wildcard spot, which the New York Yankees are currently the top contenders for.
Pitching Lineup and Statistics
Tonight’s game will begin an hour earlier than the last two games did, as 9:10pm Eastern Time is when the first pitch will be thrown. On the mound tonight, we have JC Ramirez of the Angels pitching against Erasmo Ramirez of the Mariners. It will be a battle of the Ramirezs tonight! JC Ramirez has pitched 25 games this year, and has a 10-10 record on the season with a 4.21 ERA. Erasmo Ramirez has pitched 28 games and has a 4-4 record with a 5.10 ERA. Both of these pitchers have been very average this season compared to other pitchers in the league. It will have to be a game that is decided by the offense tonight, because the pitching will most likely be pretty even.
Pick, Odds, and Prediction
I predict that the Mariners will come into tonight’s game ready to win, because they can see their second place spot slowly slipping away from them. I think they will come out with the bats ready to move and try to get at least a split with the Angels. If the Angels win tonight then they will win the series even if the Mariners win tomorrow. Knowing this, I have a better feeling about the Mariners winning tonight than I have in the previous two games of this series. I predict that the final score will total over 8 runs, and that it will be 6-3 with the Mariners on top for the first time in this series. If Erasmo Ramirez has a good start tonight, then it will help the Mariners to focus on giving him bat and run support. These two teams have both had good seasons, and are still hoping to move into the wildcard positions, ahead of the New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins. In the long run, I could see the Yankees in particular losing their spot because they have been inconsistent all season and they will go on a high and then immediately after that go on a low. I could see them losing their spot more so than the Twins. It will be a tight race to the finish, that’s for sure.
