FREE MLB Pick Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies

The Dodgers take on the Rockies Friday in the Mile High City as the two NL West contenders look to make up ground on the Diamondbacks.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been one of the hottest teams in the National League since the start of June. On Friday, they’ll send Kenta Maeda to the mound in an effort to contain a potent Colorado offense. Maeda has already faced this Rockies team twice in 2018, and he performed admirably in both starts, combining for 13 2/3 innings and only 2 earned on 5 hits. In total, the Japanese native has held this Rockies’ lineup to just a .220 BAA over the past three seasons. Meanwhile, the Dodgers’ offense is as potent as any in baseball. Matt Kemp (.288/.336/.486) is having a campaign reminiscent of his past while trade deadline acquisitions Manny Machado and Brian Dozier have provided an immediate impact in the middle of the Los Angeles lineup. In the past, the Dodgers haven’t had a ton of success when facing Jon Gray, but Yasiel Puig (.271/.332/.482) and Justin Turner (.266/.362/.410) have both performed well against the right-hander in the past.

The Colorado Rockies have followed up a Wild Card appearance last season with a solid 2018 campaign. Friday starter Jon Gray has been phenomenal in 4 outings since returning from a two-start to Triple-A Albuquerque. In his four most recent starts, Gray has compiled a 1.52 ERA and held opponents to a .140 BA. In addition, Colorado’s offense has been one of the best in the Senior Circuit. Nolan Arenado (.308 BA, 29 HR) is my pick for the MVP and tallied three hits in yesterday’s contest. Trevor Story (.290 BA, 24 HR), Carlos Gonzalez (.287/.330/.494), and Charlie Blackmon (.278 BA, 21 HR) combine to form a formidable trio in the middle of the lineup. This is undoubtedly one of the deepest offenses in baseball.

FREE MLB Prediction Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

Ultimately, Vegas is only slightly favoring the Dodgers in this match-up. I like Los Angeles in a pitcher’s duel Friday, as they possess the superior bullpen and closer. I believe in this Dodgers team, and in order for them to begin a run toward October success, they’ll need to beat their division rivals. I’ll take the Dodgers and the UNDER in this one.
