Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Chicago Cubs

Los Angeles Dodgers (38-34) vs Chicago Cubs (41-29)

MLB Baseball: Wednesday, June 20th, 2018, 2:20 PM @ Wrigley Field

Line & Odds: Dodgers -104   Spread: Dodgers -1.5   Over/Under: 7

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs have each won a game so far this series. So who will emerge victorious? Yesterday the teams played a day-night double header ending in a very close extra inning affair where the Chicago Cubs escaped with a 2-1 victory. Albert Almora Jr. was the hero as he hit a game ending RBI single to pull ahead. Almora Jr went 2-5 on the outing driving in that solo run. Also worth noting is Kyle Scwarber who hit his 13th home run of the year off of Erik Goeddel in the 7th inning. The Cubs will look to take the series this afternoon as they send their ace Jon Lester to the mound. Lester is 8-2 on the year with a 2.28 ERA and 69 strikeouts.

The Los Angeles Dodgers just couldn’t find their bats in the second game of the double header but they did take the first one by a final score of 4-3. Joc Pederson went yard for his 9th home run of the season and Yasiel Puig drove in his 26th RBI of the year. The real standout performer yesterday, however, was Kyle Farmer. Farmer came into the game as a pinch hitter in the 9th inning and proceeded to hit a 2 run double down the left field line which would ultimately be the game winner. As I mentioned though, the bats have beeen asleep all series long for the Dodgers. Today will be no easier as they face Jon Lester. On the mound for the Dodgers is Ross Stripling who is currently 6-1 on the campaign along with a scorching hot 1.76 ERA and 78 strikeouts. This is going to be a good one!

Current Trends by CTS 365:

Chicago Cubs are 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games

Chicago Cubs are 2-8 SU in their last 10 games when playing the Dodgers

The UNDER has hit in 9 of Chicago’s last 10 games

The Los Angeles Dodgers are 6-2 SU in their last 8 games

The Los Angeles Dodgers are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games

The UNDER has hit in 9 of the Dodgers’ last 10 games

This series has lacked hits and runs and today should be no different. Jon Lester for the Cubs is allowing just 2.28 runs per game while Ross Stripling of the Dodgers is allowing only 1.76 runs per game. That, combined with the quiet bats on both rosters should present yet another low scoring game. That is why, yet again, I am putting my money on the TOTAL to go UNDER 7 runs. Yes that is a very low run total but on their best hitting day of the series they put up a total of 7 runs. I cannot foresee the bats waking up on a day that these two beasts are pitching. As it is, 9 of the last 10 games for both of these teams have gone UNDER. Good luck out there and please remember to check out our other free sports picks courtesy of Cover the Spread 365!
