MLB Lineups Los Angeles Angels vs Los Angeles Dodgers

Tuesday night will feature part two in the battle of LA. As the Dodgers visit their cross town rivals for the second and final game of the series.

Following a come from behind victory Monday night the Angeles will look to sweep the short series on the back of Felix Pena. Though he sports a 3-1 record, Pena’s ERA has been less than impressive — sitting at 4.53 entering Tuesday’s contest. Despite last nights heroics, the Angels have seen themselves limping through another disappointing season. With last nights victory they sit at 32-35, which has them 4 games back of the second AL wild card position. But before playoff talk, the Angels find themselves trying and failing to reach the .500 mark. If they want to catapult themselves into the playoff conversation they will need a serious hot streak and a two game sweep of the LA Dodgers would certainly be a good start.

For that to happen they will need their stars to continue producing. Look for Mike Trout and Tommy LaStella to continue to carry the load. Perhaps with some help from Shohei Ohtani, who has shown signs of life in his return from Tommy John surgery. Offense, however, hasn’t been the main problem for the Angeles as they rank strongly in most AL categories. The problem as you can imagine has been the pitching. Pena has had flashes of brilliance but he is coming off an abysmal start against the Athletics, which saw him last only 1.2 innings while allowing 7 earned runs. If they’re going to have a chance in this one Pena will be forced to dig deep against a lethal Dodgers lineup.

Even with last nights disappointing defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers sit at a pretty 45-22, which is good for a 10 game lead over the second place Rockies in the NL West. That’s good for the best record in the NL and tied with only the Astros for the best record in all of Major League Baseball. Led by MVP frontrunner Cody Bellinger, the Dodgers offense has achieved lethal status in 2019. Unlike some NL teams, the move to an American League ball park doesn’t put them at a disadvantage. In fact it allows them to put a ferocious 1-9 lineup onto the field. It takes a whole lot of depth to go to back to back world series and though they came up short in each of the last two seasons, the Dodgers look like a team on a mission… A team taking no prisoners on their quest of baseballs top prize.

Toeing the mound for the Dodgers in this game will be Kenta Maeda who sports a solid 7-2 record along side his strong 3.48 ERA. Maeda is coming off a start against the Diamondbacks where he went five innings and allowed just one run in a no decision. Before that he held a strong Phillies lineup to two runs over six innings on the way to his seventh win of the season. He will put his six start unbeaten streak on the line Tuesday when he steps on the mound in Angel stadium. Five members of the Angeles have faced Maeda before — Calhoun, La Stella, Ohtani, Pujols and Trout — together they are a combined 2/18. It’s a small sample size, but things sure are looking good for Maeda heading into this one.

MLB Picks and Parlays Los Angeles Dodgers vs Los Angeles Angels

Even after a blown lead and game on Monday night the Dodgers own the best record in the National League and the likelihood of them losing two straights to the often struggling Angels seems low. Especially with Pena coming off a horrendous start and now going up against the explosive Dodger lineup. Expect Maeda and Dodgers to cover the spread.
