Milwaukee Brewers vs. Cincinnati Reds

Milwaukee Brewers (86-70) vs. Cincinnati Reds (73-83)

September 24th at 6:40 ET (Great American Ball Park)

ML: Milwaukee Brewers (+100) Cincinnati Reds (-110)

RL: Milwaukee Brewers (+1.5) Cincinnati Reds (-1.5) O/U: 8.5

Two NL Central rivals clash in Ohio. The Brewers are in the middle of their best stretch on the season even after losing star Christian Yelich. They are half a game back of the Nationals for the 1st Wild Card spot. The Brewers were having an up and down season. Now, they have the motivation to make it far after losing their best player.

The Reds were struggling with pitching all of last season. Their offense took off last year. This year has been the complete opposite. Led by Sonny Gray, Luis Castillo, and Trevor Bauer, the Reds could have a solid trio manning their rotation. Their offense hasn’t played like last season which has delayed their chances of making a playoff appearance.

It will be Sonny Gray vs. Adrian Houser today. Both pitchers have pitched well this season. Gray, has been an excellent free agent bargain, and could secure himself an extension this offseason. Houser, has been in both the bullpen and the starting rotation. He has found success in the starting role.

This matchup is more crucial for the Brewers as they still have a chance to win the 1st Wild Card spot. The Reds are looking to play spoiler as they have been good against other NL Central teams.

The Brewers have been one of the hottest teams lately. The Reds aren’t a bad team themselves. This will be a short, competitive series. With Sonny Gray on the mound, and home field on their side, I’m siding with the Reds to win the first game of this series.
