MLB Draftkings Picks Minnesota Twins vs Baltimore Orioles
Last night’s game was postponed due to rain, so today these two teams will be looking at a nice doubleheader. The Twins will still be rolling out starter Jose Berrios, as the Orioles will be switching it up and going with Dan Straily for game one of the doubleheader. This bodes well for the Twins and is a big reason why the line shifted more in favor of Minnesota. Let’s jump into a preview of Game 1.
This rebuilding ball club has actually played good baseball on the road this season going 7-6, but they have really struggled at home winning only one of seven games. They need to carry over some of their road success if they want to diverge from falling into the cellar of the AL East. Thursday night, they stole a crucial game back from the Tampa Bay Rays, winning 6-5 in 11 innings. Outfielder Joey Rickard clubbed an RBI double in the 11th, capping off a four-hit night and ultimately pushing the Orioles to the finish line.
The Game 1 ball will go to right-hander Dan Straily (1-1, 10.24 ERA). Straily gave up a whopping 10 runs in 4 2/3 innings over his first two starts. However, in his last start he settled down and found his groove against the struggling Boston Red Sox. He held them to just one run in 5 innings and ultimately picked up the win. Straily has a 2.13 ERA in two starts against Minnesota. It is a small sample size, but he does have some success.
The Twinkies currently sit one game back from the Cleveland Indians in the AL Central. They’re coming off of a brutal series against the Toronto Blue Jays, dropping three of four games. It will be tough getting back on track on the road, but if there’s any team to do it against, it’s the Baltimore Orioles. There hasn’t been a single game that the Orioles have been a favorite to win, and they are just 1-6 at home. Minnesota has enjoyed watching their outfielder Eddie Rosario and their shortstop Jorge Polanco swing hot bats at the plate. Rosario mashed a pair of solo homers in Thursday’s loss and he has six in the last 10 games. Polanco is one of the hottest hitters in baseball, slashing himself an impressive .400/.464/.717 line. Two weeks ago, he hit for the cycle against the Phillies. If he stays hot like this, watch out for the Twins to steal the division away from the Indians.
On the mound for the Twins today is right-hander Jose Berrios (2-1, 2.30 ERA). Berrios has been fantastic to start the season, notching four straight quality starts and striking out 28 in 27 innings of work. He’s also kept himself in complete control, only giving up five walks. He has held opponents to just 15 total hits, including four in his last start versus the Detroit Tigers. The promising young star is 2-0 with a 1.76 ERA in two starts at Camden Yards.

Being a University of Minnesota grad, I know how much the Twins disappoint and frustrate their fans. I mean I completely get it going from making the playoffs to almost 90 losses…that’s tough. It would certainly make me BIG MAD! However, I think this is a different team this year. Byron Buxton is actually coming around at the plate and they’re getting a lot of production from Rosario and Polanco. I’m very big on Jose Berrios, and he’s the one that tips the scale for me today. I won’t be surprised if the Orioles keep it close in one of the two games today, but I have to side with Minnesota here. There isn’t a lot of value at -200, but they do bode well in a nice parlay.
