If the Boston Red Sox have any hope of defending their World Series title, than they absolutely have to win this series. With it now being September, and them 5.5 games back in the AL Wild Card race, wins mean more than ever. However, if the Twins want to be crowned AL Central division champions, than it's imperative that they themselves get some wins out of this series. With a 5.5 lead over the Indians, it'll be tough for Cleveland to close the gap, but not picking up some victories here could prove to be disastrous.
Newly minted Twins pitcher Randy Dobnak will be making his first ever career start tonight. He's only 24, and rose through the minor league faster than anyone ever expected. He pitched at multiple levels in the minors this year, and put up fantastic numbers throughout. Most notably, in his almost 50 innings in Triple A, he gave up a grand total of zero home runs. Combine that with his low walk rate, and it's been more than difficult for teams to knock in runs against him. He was rocking a 2.07 ERA, along with a 0.98 WHIP. In his 3 appearances for Minnesota this season, he's pitched 8 innings, and has a 0.00 ERA. He has however given up 13 hits in said innings, so he needs to bring that number down.
