The New York Yankees and Minnesota Twins will play the rubber game of their 3-game set on Wednesday afternoon. The Yankees won the second game of the series 6-3 and will look to avoid being beaten in a series vs. Minnesota for the first time since 2014.

5 different Yankees were able to tally 2 or more hits in Tuesday’s victory. Brett Gardner, Gary Sanchez, and Aaron Judge all had 2 hits, while Ronald Torreyes went 3-4 and Didi Gregorius went 3-4 with a 2-run homer. Starting pitcher Luis Cessa was only able to last 3.2 innings after giving up 3 runs, however, it was the bullpen who earned the victory after Chasen Shreve, Adam Warren, Delllin Betances, and Aroldis Chapman combined for 5.1 innings with 3 hits given up and 0 runs. The Yankees recently made a trade that enabled them to acquire relief pitchers David Robertson and Tommy Kanhle, as well as third-baseman Todd Frazier all from the White Sox. Robertson has 13 saves and 47 strikeouts in 33 innings pitched this year, and Kanhle has 60 strikeouts in 36 innings while maintaining a 2.50 ERA, so both will be able to contribute right away to an already stacked Yankees bullpen. Jordan Montgomery( 6-4, 3.78 ERA)  will get the nod for the Yanks day game vs. Minnesota.

Minnesota Twins jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on Tuesday but was let down by its poor pitching in the 5th inning. Bartolo Colon only lasted 4 innings but was responsible for 4 runs on 8 hits. He was taken out in the 5th when relief pitcher Ryan Pressley entered and gave up a 2-run bomb to Didi Gregorius. All-Star slugger Miguel Sano went 2-5 with a solo home-run, and promising young outfielder Max Kepler went 2-4. The Twins have only won 4 of their last 10 games and have yet to win back to back games in the second half of the season. With a team aspiring for a playoff berth, they need to show more consistency. Right-hander Jose Berrios(8-3, 3.70 ERA) gets the call against the Yankees on Wednesday.

MLB FREE PREDICTION MINNESOTA TWINS VS NEW YORK YANKEES

The Yankees are 2nd in Obs, 3rd in Ops and 3rd in runs scored vs. right handed pitching in the majors. This is an offense facing a pitcher in Berrios who lasted only 1.2 innings in his last outing and has given up 10 earned runs in his last 3 games. Given that Judge and company were able to get back on track in Tuesday’s victory, expect one of the better offenses in the majors to continue to roll while starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery has enough stuff to handle this average hitting Minnesota lineup.
