This will be game 2 of five in this ALDS with the Yankees taking game 1 by a score of 10-4 after trailing 2-0 early on. The Twins have now dropped 14 straight postseason games in franchise history that dates back to 2014. Game 1 was also the Yankees 11th straight postseason win over Minnesota. Both teams had to go to their bullpens early with each set of relievers having to pitch at least four innings. Both teams also managed to leave their share of runners on base with the Yankees stranding seven and the Twins leaving nine on base.
Minnesota tries to continue great road record
Minnesota is 15-5 SU in their last 20 games on the road. The Twins will start an undrafted rookie in Randy Dobnak in game 2 after just five career starts. He is 2-1 with a 1.59 ERA in 9 appearances this season. However, as a starter, Dobnak hasn’t been overly impressive in 19 1/3 innings of work he has allowed six runs and 13 hits although opponents are hitting just .188 against him in his starts this season. The Twins scored 4.4 runs per game in Dobnak’s five starts as Minnesota managed just a 3-2 record. Minnesota’s bullpen has struggled against the Yankees and in game 1 they allowed seven runs in 4 1/3 innings. The Twins entered game 1 with their bullpen having a 5.87 ERA against the Yankees this year in six regular-season games.
