The New York Mets will have to give the start to Steven Matz after the scheduled starter for this game Zack Wheeler had to be put on the injured list. Matz will return from a bullpen role to start this game where he didn’t allow a run in two appearances. Matz has struggled as a starter this season with a 4.95 ERA and 50 runs in 80 innings and in June he went 1-3 with a 7.36 ERA in six starts. The Mets are just 19th in runs per game with 4.67 per game. The Mets bullpen has been terrible this year as they have a 5.50 ERA which is 28th in the majors and have the worst save percentage in the league at 51.16% and has 21 blown saves.

The Minnesota Twins have been led by their explosive offense as they are second in the majors in runs scored and leads the league in home runs this season. The Twins have the second-best run differential in the league outscoring opponents by 121 runs.  Minnesota has cooled off after a terrific start as they are 10-10 in their last twenty games and 16-14 in their last thirty games. Michael Pineda will get the start as he looks to win his third consecutive start as he has continued to improve as the season has gone on with a 2-1 record in his last four starts with 3.13 ERA and had 27 strikeouts to 3 walks during that stretch.
