Line & Odds: Mets (-165), White Sox (+140) - Over/Under 9.5
The Mets are looking for a series sweep after taking games one and two from the White Sox in Chicago.
Righty Jacob deGrom dominated from the mound on Wednesday night. He threw seven innings, allowing only one run on five hits while striking out 11 and walking two. Justin Wilson relieved deGrom and allowed two hits, no runs, and a walk.
The score was tied 1-1 late in the game, but the Mets went on to score three in the 9th. Closer Edwin Diaz gave up a homer in the bottom half but struck out the side to get the save. His ERA has climbed to 5.14. Though Diaz has struggled of late, the Mets are on a six-game winning streak.
Woes continued in Chicago Wednesday night, but at no fault of starter Lucas Giolito. He struck out nine, walked three, and gave up one run through seven innings pitched. Giolito had a much better performance than his last where he gave up seven earned runs in five innings against the Twins.
The White Sox have now lost three in a row and are 2-8 in their last 10 games. They sit 19 games back of first in the AL Central and require a couple miracles to have any shot at a Wild Card spot.
