The New York Yankees host the Baltimore Orioles for a double header on Monday to kick start a four game series between the AL East rivals.

The New York Yankees enter Monday’s double header with an 8.5 game lead in the AL East. The Yankees are likely on their way to post season play again and have done so despite a strong contest from teams like Tampa Bay and Boston. The Yankees have one of the most prolific offenses in the MLB, leading the league in runs scored, second in on-base percentage, and third is team batting average. The Yankees have found a lot of success at the plate this season and will look to find it in two games come Monday.

The Yankees send LHP James Paxton and RHP Chad Green to the mound for the double header. Paxton enters the contest with a 7-6 record and a 4.40 ERA. While Green has a 2-3 record with a 4.82 ERA. In Paxton’s last outing, the 30 year old pitched 6.2 innings against the Baltimore Orioles and allowed only one run. For Green, he is more of a reliever than an actual starter, he will likely only pitch an inning or two to kick things off before being replace. Regardless, both pitchers will look to do their part in hopes of adding two to the Yankees win column on Monday.

The Baltimore Orioles sit in last place in the AL East with a record of 39-78. The Orioles struggles have been all over the roster, but at the plate they sit in the bottom part of the league for success, they rank 24th in batting average, 26th in runs scored, and 26th in on-base percentage. The Orioles will look to win both games on Monday in hopes of finding some momentum to build on for the season.

Taking the mound for the Orioles on Monday will be RHP Gabriel Ynoa and RHP Tom Eshelman. Ynoa enter’s the contest with a 1-6 record and a 5.57 ERA. While Eshelman comes in with a 1-2 record and a 6.39 ERA. Ynoa does tend to last longer but both pitchers generally don’t go far into their starts. Both will look to help propel their team towards a victory though as Baltimore heads into New York on Monday.

While we all love an underdog, I think the safe bet is going with one of the hottest teams in baseball which is the New York Yankees.
