After losing an away series against the Chicago Cubs, the Oakland A's continue their road trip across the river to battle the other Chicago team, the White Sox. The White Sox are coming back from a 7-game road trip, which they won 5 of the games. The A's will be starting RHP Mike Fiers (10-3, 3.46 ERA) on the mound against LHP Ross Detwiler (1-2, 5.72 ERA).

The A's got murdered on Wednesday against the Cubs, 1-10. New addition Homer Bailey gave up a whopping 7 runs in only 4.2 IP. The A's only got on base 3 times and never walked, striking out 8 times as well. Mark Canha struck out 3 times himself and never got on base. However, the A's did well the game before beating the Cubs, 11-4. SP Brett Anderson pitched well and the A's offense played as they typically do as the 10th best offense in the MLB.

Mike Fiers continues his renaissance. After throwing the most recent no-no (his 2nd of his career) in the MLB in May, Fiers looks like the A's ace coming into the home stretch. In his last 15 starts, Fiers has gone 7-0 with a 2.48 ERA, with a 1.09 WHIP. He ranks top to in the AL in most pitching categories. But Fiers isn't a strikeout guy, he doesn't throw hard or have much movement on his changeup. But knows how to work the field. And the Sox struggle against top tier pitching this season and have the top 5 worst offenses.
