Recap Game 1

It was a rough game for the A's last night. However, for the Astros, they just keep hitting. They exploded for 15 runs after scoring 21 runs the night before against the Mariners. It's been an impressive showing by the best team in baseball. When you have Zack Greinke on the mound (0 ER last night), your team figures to only need a couple of runs to win the game. The Astros got more than enough run support as their dangerous offense remains the best in baseball.

Mike Fiers got shelled in one inning by the red-hot Astros. He allowed 9 ER in ONE inning, and the first man out of the bullpen (Paul Blackburn) gave up 6 runs (5 ER). After two innings, the A's pitching gave up 15 runs and SIX homers. The offense also faced ace Zack Greinke who is almost impossible to score off of.

Oakland Athletics

The A's only have a 0.5 game lead on the Indians. Every game matters down the stretch. They have a tough task with the Houston Astros being in their division. The offense was shut down yesterday, and the pitching was ineffective. Tanner Roark, who gets the nod today will need to be more effective, and the offense led by Matt Chapman will need to provide some run support.
