The Oakland Athletics will have Marco Estrada take the mound on Saturday night in what will be his fifth start of the year with Oakland having lost his previous four starts. Estrad especially struggled last time out allowing six earned runs on nine hits and only able to go four innings against the Orioles. The Athletics will be without first baseman Matt Olson who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a hand injury. Khris Davis has continued his hot hitting on Friday night as he extended his major league leading home run total to 10. He is currently batting just .265 but is 9th in the AL in slugging at .706 and is 20th in WAR.
The Texas Rangers will have Adrian Sampson making his sixth start of his career and the first of the season. Last time he pitched he went 3 2/3 innings with one run surrendered with two walks and two strikeouts. He has only allowed two runs in 9 2/3 this season and opponents are batting just .235 against him. Logan Forsythe has had a lot of success against Estrada over his career going 8 for 17 against him in his career. Texas has struggled with strikeouts this season with 135 in their 13 games which is fourth most in the AL.

Both of these teams have been very streaky to begin the season. Each team has had both a win streak of at least three games and a losing streak of at least four this season. Oakland is the team currently in the midst of a four-game winning streak however as they are coming off of a victory in the opener of this three-game series between the teams. The Athletics came from behind to win that game as they trailed 6-1 and then stormed back with seven unanswered runs to win 8-6. This will be the second of 19 games between these AL West rivals. Sampson for the Rangers seems to be in good form this season with two really good relief appearances while Estrada has struggled in his last two starts allowing at least three runs in each. Sampson should get his first career win as a major league starter tonight with the Rangers able to end the Athletics streak at four.
