After a postponement in game one the Philadelphia Phillies and Baltimore Orioles look to take the first game of the series Wednesday afternoon.

The Philadelphia Phillies are possibly the biggest surprise in the early 2018 baseball season. Winners in 7 of their last 10, the Phillies look to keep up with the Braves in the division. The Phillies (23-16) look to be out of their rebuild a season early. One of the biggest contributors to the early season success has been breakout star Odubel Herrera. Batting a National League best .360 Herrera has also added 6 homeruns and 24 RBIs in the three hole this season. The Phillies biggest key to their early success has been their pitching. Philadelphia ranks fifth in the MLB with a 3.44 ERA on the season. On the mound for the Phillies Wednesday afternoon will be Nick Pivetta. Nick has started off the season great with a 2.79 ERA in his first five starts of the season. In the last two games, Pivetta has had a 9.00 ERA this month with a 1-1 record. Nick will look to get back on track Wednesday afternoon with the help of his lineup in Camden Yards.

The Baltimore Orioles on the other hand are one of the biggest disappointments this year in baseball. In the cellar of the AL East the Orioles currently have a 28-14 record. Andrew Cashner will be on the mound for the Orioles Wednesday afternoon. Cashner currently has a 4.84 ERA with a 1-4 record on the season. In his last three starts Cashner has given up 12 runs with a 0-1 record. Cashner will look to snap out of his early season funk with the help of his star hitter Manny Machado. Manny is showing why he is possibly the best 3rd baseman in the MLB. Leading the MLB in RBIs (38), tied for the lead league in homeruns (13), and third in batting average (.350). Machado has possibly been on the trading block all season but keeps playing his game and looks to be one of the best players in baseball.

This matchup looks good for both lineups in this games. Both teams have been hitting better in the last couple weeks of the season. The Baltimore Orioles are looking to continue their recent success after such a bad start to the season, while the Phillies look to stay within a game in the NL East. Even though the game looks to bring a lot of runs, 10.5 is a lot to get to. Take the under in this game between two teams looking to continue recent success.

Showalter: "It’s hard to get 13 hits and not score any runs. We had plenty of opportunities. I thought our guys did a good job off Eduardo. We just couldn’t get that big hit to open him up. That’s a tribute to him, but it’s frustrating.” #orioles #redsox
