The Philadelphia Phillies aim to sweep the Colorado Rockies after winning the first two of the three game home series in Sunday’s afternoon match-up.

Bryce Harper continued to be the star of the series in Saturday’s game as he started things off with a solo shot in the first inning to give the Phillies their first run of the outing. The second run came in the third inning when Jean Segura took home following a wild pitch. Aaron Nola provided a shutout six innings along with 12 strikeouts but allowed a run in the seventh inning where he was then relieved by Seranthony Dominguez. Hector Neris was awarded the save, his seventh of the season. Nola took the win and moved his record to 4-0 on the season, dropping his ERA to 4.47. The performance from Nola is certainly exciting for Philly fans as the young pitcher has struggled for much of the season, but a dominant outing like this will give fans confidence he can return to 2018 form where he finished third in Cy Young voting for the National League.

The Phillies will put the ball in RHP Jerad Eickhoff’s hand, the 28-year-old sports a 2-2 record and an impressive 2.65 ERA. Eickhoff will be looking to bounce back after his last outing on May 14th against the Milwaukee Brewers where he only last four innings allowing five runs taking the loss, including two home runs. In his first 30 innings this season, Eickhoff had allowed zero, keeping his ERA at 1.50 prior to the Milwaukee start. In his start against the Rockies earlier this season on April 21st, he allowed four runs in six innings and took his only other loss of the season. Eickhoff will look to bounce back and redeem himself in hopes to help the Phillies sweep the Rockies and potential further their lead on the trailing Atlanta Braves in the NL East.

The Colorado Rockies struggled to convert their hitting success of nine hits into much, only getting one run off of pinch hitter Ryan McMahon’s double in the seventh inning in Saturday’s loss. The Rockies now sit at 20-24 with the season series tied at 3-3 in the last regular season match-up between the two clubs. Brendon Rodgers finally notched his first major league hit, going 1 for 4 in the outing, with an infield single in his first at bat in the performance.

The Rockies will send out LHP Kyle Freeland who currently holds a 2-5 record and 5.68 ERA. The former 2014 first round draft pick is coming off of a solid 6 inning 3 run performance last Tuesday against Boston where he walked away with the no decision. On April 18th Freeland faced the Phillies and delivered an impressive shut out six innings where he only allowed two hits in his time on the mound. His only appearance all season where he didn’t at least allow two runs. While there is confidence to be had in Freeland’s history against Philadelphia specifically this season, his current season has been quite shaky and he will need to be on his A game in order to help his team avoid getting swept.

For Sunday’s match-up I am taking the Philadelphia Phillies and the under, I believe the game will be a pretty big win for the Phillies as I believe the Phillies will find success against Freeland this time and build a big lead, however I also think Eickhoff keeps the Rockies in check keeping the score below the 9.5 O/U given for the game.

PICK: Philadelphia Phillies -1 1/2
