The Houston Astros will be looking for redemption against the San Diego Padres at Minute Maid Park in game two of the series.
The San Diego Padres (5th in NL West) pulled out a win at yesterday’s away game against the Houston Astros. Tonight, right-hander Bryan Mitchell (0-1) will be their starting pitcher. This is his first season with the Padres and he has only pitched one game this season which resulted in a loss. He will need to prove himself tonight after allowing five runs and 8 hits in only 5 innings resulting in a 7-4 loss against Colorado. However, last night Jose Perila had three hits and looked very promising. Perila (.274) will need to be on his A game again if they want to pull out another win
The Houston Astros led by pitcher Lance McCullers, Jr. fell to the Padres last night, but there is lots of room for improvement. Tonight, the starting pitcher for the Astros is Gerrit Cole (1.29). This is Cole’s debut at home and he’ll be raring to leave a good impression in Houston. Last season he allowed a 1.37 HR/9 and he will be looking to correct that tonight and the rest of the season. George Springer (.219) was the only Astro to get on the board for the team. Jose Altuve (.406) and Carlos Correa (.409) are still in the top 10 of all MLB batters. The Astros still appear to be a sold team, despite last night’s loss.

The Houston Astros will be winning this game. Gerrit Cole will show fans what he’s really made of and lead the team to victory at home. This will be only the pitchers’ second game to pitch this season, and Gerrit Cole looks stronger than Bryan Mitchell on paper. I’m picking the Houston Astros to even out the series tonight at Minute Maid Park.
