The Seattle Mariners (22-17) have been inconsistent of late, going 5-6 in their last 11 games. The Mariners have played well offensively, ranking in the top ten in the league in batting average and slugging percentage. Their lineup is lead by Mitch Haniger’s ten home runs and 30 RBI’s. Wade LeBlanc (0-0, 3.18 ERA) will get the start for the Mariners on Monday. This will be LeBlanc’s third start of the year as he is replacing Erasmo Ramirez (injured) in the starting rotation. Seattle will only expect four to five innings of work from LeBlanc before going to the bullpen. LeBlanc has been respectable out of the bullpen this year and he has only given up a single run between his two starts. Robinson Cano will be sitting out with an injury suffered in the previous game.
The Minnesota Twins (17-19) seem to have overcome their early-season woes, as they have won eight of their last 11 games. The Twins lost eight games in a row at one point and have worked hard to get things back on track. Minnesota will send Jake Odorizzi (3-2, 3.83 ERA) to the mound against the Mariners. Odorizzi went five innings and gave up one run in his last start. In order to get a win, the Twins’ lineup will need to keep up their momentum from their recent road trip. The Twins averaged over five runs per game in their ten game road trip, which is nearly a run more per game than what they are averaging over this whole season. Minnesota ranks 23rd in the MLB in total runs so far this season.

The Twins are trending in the right direction and this would be a big home win after being on the road for ten games. Seattle will be looking to replace Robinson Cano who will be sitting out with an injury. The Mariners’ bullpen will most likely be called on early and often due to LeBlanc being on a short leash. The Twins’ lineup has picked up the pace in recent weeks and they will look to keep that going. Minnesota has a lot of momentum right now and Seattle has been too inconsistent to be trusted. The Twins lineup will get much-needed runs off of the Mariners’ bullpen and pick up the victory.
