New York will look to secure a series victory on Sunday afternoon in the Bronx.

Giancarlo Stanton had a solo homer and an RBI double in the Yankees’ 7-2 win. Saturday’s game marked Stanton’s third appearance since an injury which had sidelined him since June 25. First baseman Mike Ford and catcher Kyle Higashioka both knocked in two runs.

Lefty James Paxton picked up his 10th win on the season after pitching six innings, allowing just one run on three hits while tallying seven strikeouts. Jonathan Loaisiga and Chad Green tallied a combined eight strikeouts in three innings.

Toronto had just six hits while striking out 15 times. Center fielder Jonathan Davis knocked in a run on a single in the third. The other run came on a seventh inning double off the bat of left fielder Teoscar Hernandez.

T.J. Zeuch made the start for the Blue Jays. The righty allowed two runs on four hits over four innings. The sixth inning was rough for right-hander Brock Stewart. The Yankees scored four runs on five hits to stretch a 2-1 lead to a 6-1 lead.

Starting for Toronto in the third and final game of the series will be rookie Trent Thornton. He is 5-9 with a 4.93 ERA in 30 appearances (28 starts). The right-hander has pitched 14 1/3 innings against the Yankees this season, allowing 10 runs on 15 hits.

Two-time All-Star Luis Severino will start for the Yankees. The righty has missed the whole season due to a right lat strain. He pitched on Tuesday night against the Angels when he allowed two runs and two walks in four innings and struck out four.
