The Yankees and Blue Jays kick off a three-game series in the Bronx on Friday night. New York leads the season series 9-7.

New York clinched the AL East title for the first time since 2012 with a win over the Angels on Thursday. The Yankees won the division despite setting a major league record with 30 players on the injured list this season. The Yankees are the second team to 100 wins, the Astros being the first.

The Yankees are coming off a series win over the Angels. They won games one and two by scores of 8-0 and 9-1. Following the series against Toronto, the Yankees will play two in Tampa Bay, then three against the Rangers in Arlington.

It has been a rough season for Toronto. The team sits at 29 games below .500, but are 7-3 in its last 10 games. The Blue Jays are coming off a three-game sweep of the Orioles in Baltimore.

Starting for the Yankees will be J.A. Happ. The veteran left-hander is 12-8 with a 5.07 ERA in 29 games this season. In his Aug. 9 outing against the Blue Jays, Happ allowed six runs on four hits over five innings. Toronto launched three homers during his start.

Rookie Jacob Waguespack will toss to the Bronx Bombers. In 14 appearances (11 starts) this season, the righty is 4-5 with a 4.70 ERA. He started against the Yankees on Sept. 14, allowing three runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings.
