FREE MLB PREDICTION Washington Nationals vs Philadelphia Phillies

The Washington Nationals will be squaring off with the Philadelphia Phillies Sunday afternoon in game four of this four game series between NL East foes.

Washington Nationals

The Washington Nationals came into the season as overwhelming favorites to win the NL East. There biggest competition was supposed to be the New York Mets. With the Mets having a down season the Nationals have had to deal with the emergence of the NL East leading Braves and the Phillies. Washington has had an up and down season so far and currently sit 4 games behind the Braves in the East. On the offensive side of the ball the Nationals have had a tough June. Friday they finally broke out with a 17 run game including 7 homeruns. Bryce Harper was the first MLB player Friday to 20 homeruns and also has a team leading 49 RBIs. On the hill for the Nationals will be Gio Gonzalez. Gio currently holds a 3.68 ERA with a 6-5 record on the season. In his last 7 games Gonzalez hasn’t found much success with a 5.50 ERA and 2-3 record. Gio will look to snap out of his drought with the help of his offense that has started to catch fire lately.

Philadelphia Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies are having a great season under manager Gabe Kapler. Currently sitting in second place in the NL East, the Phillies are looking to break out of their rebuild a year early. On the hill for the Phillies will be their biggest off season pick up Jake Arrieta. On the season Arrieta has a 3.54 ERA with a 5-6 record. Jake has not had much run support and is looking for the offense to help him out Sunday afternoon. Odubel Herrera has been a breakout star for the Phillies this year batting a team high .286 with 45 RBIs. Another breakout player for the Phillies has been second year outfielder Rhys Haskins. Rhys is leading the team in homeruns (14) and RBIs (50).

Both these teams are looking for a way to fight their way up the NL East division. Gio Gonzalez and Jake Arrieta both have had up and down season and are looking for more consistency. As of late, Jake Arrieta has been the better pitcher of the two and I expect that to continue Sunday. Philadelphia will win the game with the help of Arietta and a solid young offense. Take the Phillies and enjoy a great NL East rivalry.

It might be faster to tell you which @Nationals did NOT homer today.

I'm assuming Bryce will publish a "thank you" when he comes to town with #Phillies next month, His emotions at All-Star game last summer were genuine. But fans shouldn't have to beg for one, either. #Nats
