FREE MLB PICK: Boston Red Sox vs Los Angeles Dodgers

Welcome to Game Four of the 2018 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers. These two teams have matched up so well with each other that we have watched three, nail-biting games so far. The Boston Red Sox have scored most of their runs this postseason with two outs and this statistic helped them take the first two games. The Los Angeles Dodgers have shown that they can keep pace with this mighty Sox’s team, but Los Angeles hasn’t had any luck with some late game magic. Well team blue finally got some Hollywood heroics when Max Muncy hit a walk-off homerun, in the 18th inning, to give the Dodgers their first win of this World Series. Game 3 was the longest World Series game in MLB history going 18 innings and 7 hours and 20 minutes. Now the Dodgers have a chance, but the powerful Red Sox roster will be ready to fight back. Saturday’s starters are TBD vs TBD.

It’s the Boston Red Sox series to win. If you win 108 games, then odds are you will be the last team standing in October. Boston’s record this postseason is 9-3 they have taken control early and often in most of their games. The keys to their amazing victories are from the stacked pitching staff, lineup, and of course the two out RBIs. Also, the best teams need a little luck sometimes from unlikely sources. Boston got some breathing room in their game one win when Eduardo Nunez hit a pinch-hit, three-run homerun, to give the Red Sox a four run lead. In game two, Boston got some help from their leader J.D. Martinez when he got a two-RBI single to right, to give his team a 4-2 lead. Martinez is having a career year and will probably win the American League MVP award. Look for him to have another big moment in this series. Now despite Boston losing game three in dramatic fashion, they still have control in this series. The Sox are still up 2-1 and they had their chances to go up 3-0. Sometimes the luck doesn’t go your way sometimes and they will just have to find their swing again.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have showed resilience all season. The Dodgers had a slow start to the season and an up and down first half. The Arizona Diamondbacks led the NL West most of this season and LA’s second half surge helped them get back in the race. Arizona went cold in September, and it became a division race between the Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies. It was Colorado’s division to win late, but Los Angeles was able to care of business and win the NL West tiebreaker game at home. From there, LA breezed through the Atlanta Braves, had an extremely hard fought, seven game series with the Milwaukee Brewers, and now they find themselves back in the World Series, matching pretty well with the stacked Red Sox. This time around, Boston is having an historic year, while the Dodgers have truly battled to give themselves a chance to win their first World Series since 1988. Los Angeles needs to get production from all their big guns in the lineup if they want to make this a deep series. Manny Machado did his part in game one by getting 3-RBIs, but it wasn’t enough. Justin Turner had a nice game with three hits, but no one was on base to make those hits impactful. In game two, the Dodgers offense was simply shut down from the Boston pitchers and the Red Sox got their usual big inning. Getting shut down by pitching happens, but Yasiel Puig, Cody Bellinger, and Matt Kemp need to start coming up clutch for this team, like they did all season. In game three, the Dodgers showed the fight that’s in them and that maybe Max Muncys inspirational game at the plate will spark the rest of team blue to create a Hollywood ending to this World Series.

So, it’s a series now and who knows what to expect in game four. We know great pitching will be there in this game, but who will start? After last nights epic game, both pitching staffs will be taxed and whoever starts will need to go the distance. Look for both sides to try to get some early runs. From there, it will come down to a big hit late in the game and it will probably come from the Boston Red Sox because hitting with runners in scoring position is a big reason why they are ahead in this series. Red Sox win 5-4.
